Flow Machines - Hard Times

Hey, we just put our first two tracks created in Ableton Live online.

One ('Hard Times') is a radical reworking of a Human League track.

We also made our first ever music video:

Would appreciate any feedback x

Resampling in Mono

Is it possible to resample in mono within Ableton?

I am resampling some mono vocals, but the new clips created by Ableton are stereo!

Surely there must be an easy way to convert stereo clips to mono within Ableton?
That sounds sexy, but what are the downsides beside less battery power: heat? noise? fan action?
Yeah I did a lot of Googling and the consensus seemed to be that the impact on battery life isn't huge.

I also use it mainly at home where it is mounted on a stand so heat ...

Thanks guys, appreciate your replies.

Sounds like the 7200 will help the speed of Analog Factory with its 3500 presets which I also run too.

With that in mind I've just ordered the 2.6Ghz MBP with the 7200 drive and 4Gb RAM - should be great for Ableton with a few Arturia and FabFilter plug-ins!

Best MacBook hard drive for Ableton?

Hi,

I'm thinking of upgrading to the latest MacBook Pro as Ableton is maxing out the CPU on my current machine. I'm intending to go for the 2.6 processor with 4Gb RAM, but I am unsure about which drive to choose:

250Gb at 5400rpm
200Gb at 7200rpm

I wondered if any other Ableton users might be ...

Quantize Question

I realise I can quantize the start and end of notes, but is there also a way to standardise the length of notes?

For example, if I want every note to be exactly 1/32 can I select all the notes and use a shortcut to change them all to the same length in one go?

Also if anybody knows of a shortcut ...

Analog Factory Performance in Live

I bought this software lately and love the sounds.

I'm just slightly frustrated at the performance of the plug-in with Live.

I understand that it is loading 3500 so I accept it takes a while to load each instance on each track.

What I find more difficult to accept is that as soon as I have four ...

Look at Sony Oxford (sonnox), PSP Audio, Sonalksis, TC Powercore DSP system, Universal Audio UAD-1, and more.

I had to come back and thank you for this - I had been struggling with a vocal mix for a few days but I installed the Sonnox plug-ins last night and the reverb and EQ are really ...

I assume you are looking at things such as compression/saturation/gating. you mention doubling, this is something that can be done in most modulation effects, such as delays/chorus/phase etc.

Also, I have bought stuff from covert operators and puremagnetik which has had some very useful Live ...

Thanks for the recommendations - I have done a quick web search on these and will try a few out in the next 24 hours.

I wonder if I might be better just practising with Live effects and getting better at processing vocals, however I know when I briefly tried out Doubler and RChannel from Waves the ...

Thanks for this - I believe Ableton Live is not officially supported by Waves, however I know that many of the plug-ins work just fine and are commonly used within Ableton.

For clarification mine is an Intel mac running OS X 10.1.11 - I'm trying to use the AU versions of the plug-ins but they don't ...

Waves Plug-in Advice (Vocal Bundle / Ultramaximiser)

Hi,

I have been looking at buying the Waves Vocal bundle just to beef up the vocals on my tracks, and perhaps the L3-LL Ultramaximiser to run on the master track also.

I wondered if anybody here has used these, and if so if you think they are worth having as the Ableton audio effects are quite ...
