Yes. I'm using a UR22 interface and immediately after initial setup, I grabbed the latest drivers.bra10 wrote:Are you up-to-date with your audio nterface drivers? I got a lot of cpu-peaks with my NI-Interface (Komplete Audio 6) which where caused by an old driver. After updating it runs really smoooooth.

Re: Optimizing Ableton? Performance Issues on New PC
I ran the DPC latency monitor twice over the weekend and it never got out of green status. However, the usage is still high. I've been manually stopping the index process since it never stops running. Still doesn't do much to drop CPU usage though. Here's a screenshot of a project from today. 3 ...

Re: Optimizing Ableton? Performance Issues on New PC
Would it help if I posted my list of processes running while Ableton is eating up that CPU usage?

Re: Optimizing Ableton? Performance Issues on New PC
it may not be the indexer causing the problem though. there are lots of things that could cause the issues that you are experiencing.

Live goes through all the directories that you have on your Live Browser and kinda takes note of each audio/Live-related file so you'll easily be able to do searches in the Love browser, and so you can quickly browse for things.
If you have any directories in the Live browser that are massive, it ...

Re: Optimizing Ableton? Performance Issues on New PC
I always run this script, before starting anything audio related, that closes all unnecessary windows services. I find everything runs smoother after I have executed it. Give that a try maybe.

Re: Optimizing Ableton? Performance Issues on New PC
Sorry for the delay. I just fired up Ableton again and I do have 2 services related to it in my Task Manager: Ableton Live 9 Standard.exe and Ableton Index.exe. So that Index service never needs to run?Tarekith wrote:Yes.

Re: Optimizing Ableton? Performance Issues on New PC
It's a desktop (I should have specified). I've tried with both the built-in audio driver and my interface (Steinberg UR22). The usage is the same (only the latency changed when switching drivers).granted wrote:Are you using the audio that is built into the laptop or are you using a separate audio interface?

Re: Optimizing Ableton? Performance Issues on New PC
I just installed Live 9 Standard last night and did a test run of the software. I love it but I had two concerns after about 2 hours of testing:
1. CPU meter - it was constantly at 20-35% with only 1 or 2 Ableton instruments loaded.
2. Disk overload - nearly every time I loaded a new instrument ...

Do you have the VST and .dll files on your main OS drive and the instruments themselves on the external, or do you have everything on the external?

I rebuilt my PC for music production and will be installing both Ableton 9 and Komplete 10.

Recording Lead-in Time?
I have a piano part that I want to play, and I have a chord that I'm staggering while recording (playing the notes of the chord slightly off-set, rather than the chord all at once). How can I set up Ableton to pick up the notes I'm playing slightly before beat 1 of the loop?
