I rebuilt my PC for music production and will be installing both Ableton 9 and Komplete 10.
I was about to install Kontakt when I got a message stating: "you should select the folder that your specific host sequencer uses to store its VST plug-ins."
It looks like the default path for Ableton is: C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Vstplugins. However, I'm using an external drive to hold all of my VST instruments.
Will installing to the external cause any issues in Ableton, or is it fine as long as I confirm that path once Ableton is installed?

Hey mate, I got all my Native Instrument stuff on an external drive. No issues.
Re: VST Directory on External Drive?
Do you have the VST and .dll files on your main OS drive and the instruments themselves on the external, or do you have everything on the external?
Re: VST Directory on External Drive?
my WHOLE audio library including samples, apps, sounds, .dll's... is on external (s), only abes and a few others on main C drive. My C is an SSD. 2 cnts

Fantastic, thank you! I ended up putting the .dll files in a VST directory on my C drive but all the content libraries are on the external so I'll test that out.tintala wrote:my WHOLE audio library including samples, apps, sounds, .dll's... is on external (s), only abes and a few others on main C drive.
