Re: external instrument midi feedback issue
Delete all audio channels, or make sure they are all set to "no input" instead of the default "Ext in". This sounds like your external instrument is playing through at least two of your channels.

Re: Any good tutorial on how to use scales???
This is one of those things where we could lead a beginner down a rabbit hole of crippling uncertainty (D# is Eb... usually). I did goof, though: technically the 3rd note in C minor is Eb, not D#. I'm so used to using sharps-only notation (even when it means a scale may contain both D and D#), I use...

Re: Using Multiband Dynamics as a crossover colors the sound
This ended up being a good excuse to break down and try out Pro-Q. It was on my "list of things I should really buy at some point when I have the time and a specific need". With blind A/B testing, I can't hear any coloring when using Pro-Q to split the bands. Only issue is that the macro k...

Re: More macro knobs for Drum Racks (to make Ultra Drum Racks)
There are several Max4Live devices that will give you more macro knobs than you could ever need.
Another way to get around the 8-knob limit is to nest racks within other racks, with macros at each level in the chain.

Re: Any good tutorial on how to use scales???
You'll want to learn basic music theory. https://www.hooktheory.com/music-theory-for-songwriting tl;dr version (but seriously, learn basic music theory, it will take very little time and have a huge payoff): A "key" or "scale" consists of a "root note" and a "mode&...

Re: asio4all vs device asio
ASIO4ALL is a hack that wraps around the slow DirectX drivers and presents a "fake" ASIO interface to your DAW. This used to be useful in days long past, when some DAWs would only work with ASIO, and using DirectX wasn't an option. Nowadays ASIO4ALL is harmful in most cases I encounter in ...

Re: external instrument midi feedback issue
This sounds like the MS20 signal is going through your speakers/headphones twice. if I am understanding this correctly, it sounds like "clicking off the 1" is you turning the track off, in which case you would of course not hear the MS20 play, nor hear the recording of it play. Can you ver...

Re: Serious issue with Live 9+
This isn't much help, but it sounds more like a Win10 issue. Running latest 9.6.1 in 4k here (I've used it scaled, and currently use it without scaling, as I sit close to the screen) without any issues, using Win8.1. I would not upgrade to Win10 until MS release 10.1; and even then, I'd wait for eve...

Using Multiband Dynamics as a crossover colors the sound
I have been using an Audio Effect Rack with three chains for Low, Mid, and High, so that I can set the lows to mono and widen the mids and highs if needed. However, I find that using EQ8 for this colors the sound noticeably. I've seen in several tutorials that others use Multiband Dynamics with a si...

Re: SSD drive and everything from ableton on it
tl;dr: Heed Tarekith's words. Just get one SSD, in whatever size you can afford, and put your OS and Live on there. If you can throw all your other programs on there, that's even better. If you can throw all your projects and samples on there, that's ideal. You don't need multiple SSDs. SSDs > hard ...
