ok thanks.
Yeah, could get a 1TB M.2 SSD and about 16 GB RAM, the system could be half-decent for it's size.

Ryzen 7 4800U Ableton performance ?
Hi,
Was just wondering if anyone had experience/comments using the Rzyen 7 4800U for Ableton work.
This chip is a low-power one (about 25W) and can be found in some laptops or mini-pcs (i.e. ASUS PN50), was just wondering if anyone had run the Ableton Live Performance Test or similar.
Thanks.

"Device" view doesn't show preset names for S-gear 2 VST
Hi,
I can send Program Change messages from a MIDI track in Ableton Live to an audio track which contains the S-gear2 VST, and the presets do change. However, in the device view box it only says "Program 0" (or something like that as I'm not by my home laptop at the moment) and not "American Clean ...

Re: Small PC i.e Intel NUC,Gigabyte Brix for using Ableton Live
Hi Tagor,
For instance, the Intel NUC NUC5I7RYH i7-5557U is 3.1 GHz(boosts to 3.4 GHz), does support 2 screens, 16 GB RAM, is dual core (4 threads), can have both a SSD and 2.5" HD. But yes not as fast as a quad core, so might wait to see what the Skylake processors are like later this year.

Small PC i.e Intel NUC,Gigabyte Brix for using Ableton Live
Thinking of updating my five year old latptop (i3 2.3 GHz 8GB RAM Windows 7). It's mostly fast enough for what I need but is quite big, noisy and takes several minutes to start-up (not good if something goes wrong in the middle of a gig :( ).

Re: M4L device for Instrument rack navigation
Hi Xmonsta,
I send the Program Changes using a M4L device (though that shouldn't be any different to using a clip), but I do have the device On/Off for the VSTs in the rack linked to the chain selector (as described in the forum link I gave) - so I suppose if the other VSTs are OFF the Program ...

Re: M4L device for Instrument rack navigation
ok, thanks for the replies. With a more thorough search of the forum I found this:

M4L device for Instrument rack navigation
So I've got some VSTs in an instrument rack and I send Program Changes and see the presets change for the currently selected VST in the instrument rack. However, as I can't midi-map a way to select another VST in my rack, I have to mouse click on another instrument in the rack in order to use the ...
