Found the issue. The lessons don't show up if you don't own sampler, but are running in authorized mode.

Since I don't own sampler, I restarted Live in demo mode, and I can see them fine now.

Yes, I've followed these instructions, and I still don't see them. If I navigate to the live 8 library folder in finder (I'm on OS X Leopard btw), I can see the lessons directory there. But when I click the link like you're suggesting, I see nothing. I will try and take screenshots ...
