We've got to be able to see ACID / Apple Loop encoded information in the loop browser. If you're really trying to play live, you can't be messing around with each loop you audition, trying to figure out if it would actually sound good in your mix if it were transposed up or down a semitone.

Anyone heard anything about Apple Loop / Acid Loop support?

Apple Loops and Acid Loops

I'd like to point out that support for Apple Loops and Acid Loops could be very basic and still be very useful: If the clip browser could simply show the tagged information (key, bpm and length), most of us could take it from there.

This "show info" mode could be toggled on and off, for those who ...

Absolutely. The idea would be to have Live make use of any root key information that may be present.

Support for Acid loop Key information

I would love to be able to see embedded Key (and while we're at it, tempo) information in Acid and Apple loops -- fewer "seat of the pants" "by ear" transpositions in order to figure out if a loop really works in your song.

Is this hard to display?

Imagine the convenience when you want to start ...

I have been asking for something even simpler (!):

Support for embedded key information in Acid and Apple loops.

Showing the information, if it's present, would be substantially helpful.

Being able to (optionally) audition a loop automatically transposed to a given "Project Key" would be ...

My understanding is that creators of Acid and Apple loops tag their loops with information such as key and tempo (bpm), so all Acid / Soundtrack / GB, etc., need to do is look at the tag, not "analyze" the loop.

Obviously, it would be hugely useful to have Live at least display this information if ...

Are we starting to build some consensus for the idea that Live should _at least_ allow users to _view_ key information embedded in Acid and Apple loops?

I know I have posted on this topic before, but I may be applying for the crusader job...

My loop software background is Apple Soundtrack, not ...

Got it. Thx for the pointer. Maybe we should have a FAQ with the "5-star" responses. Searching is good, but with all the posting history on this forum, it would take a week to read all the FCB 1010 posts, as one example.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the reply, benblue.

As I wrote in my first post, it's the _key_ information, as encoded in Apple Loops (and Acid, I think), that I miss the most.

I find that in Soundtrack I can audition and choose a group of loops to use in a composition _much_ more rapidly than in Live, because I don ...

Clip Information

Does anyone know if there's a way to display the Key, BPM and Length(bars) information that may be encoded in a clip? (I'm thinking of the info in Apple Loops / Acid / etc. formats).

I'm accustomed to working in Apple Soundtrack, and the Key info is turning out to be especially hard to live without ...

Project Key

First, let me say I'm new to Live and I love it.

One thing I miss from my Apple Soundtrack (or Garageband) days is an indication in the sample browser window of the key (A min, G maj, etc.) that the selected sample is in.

I sure _wouldn't_ want all the imported samples automatically transposed ...
