Please explain what you do outside Ableton that doesn't work inside Ableton.
Outside Ableton I open Addictive Keys (in this case I have the Mark One keyboard). From there I can choose any of the different sound options available and play the keyboard.
Inside Ableton I go to plugins and open ...

Addictive Keys plug in loaded...but how to select my choice?
So my plug in is loaded. But how do I select my instrument? I have a generic keyboard sound but can't change it to what I want.
It works fine outside of Ableton, but in Ableton I don't know how to load my selection, even after weeks of google. I'm sure it's user error

Re: Add Phaser to crash cymbal .wav file
If you are using a wav drum loop that contains many elements (kick, hats, cym, snare) and you want to apply an effect to one element it's much harder than just making the beat yourself. It can be done using multi-band dynamics, filtering and FX chains but way beyond the scope for a beginner and my ...

Re: Add Phaser to crash cymbal .wav file
You can't add phaser to a cymbal if it's in a drum loop (not really anyway). The phaser will affect the entire loop because sounds are not separated onto their own individual channels. That is the disadvantage of using a loop. If you make you own loops, using say the Simpler device in Ableton Live ...

Re: Add Phaser to crash cymbal .wav file
Hi Mark.
On the track where you cymbal is (if it's a piece of audio, or a Simpler/Sampler instrument) you can drop Ableton's phaser plugin directly onto the track and it will 'insert' that or any effect you chose. Now you Cymbal will play through a phaser, change the phaser's parameters to your ...

Add Phaser to crash cymbal .wav file
So I want to add a phaser to a crash cymbal in a Wav file. Can this be done?
I know I'm asking/posting a lot of questions as a newb to Ableton, and I'm sorry about that.

Re: Best PC audio interface for Ableton?
Just an update on this...I ended up grabbing a Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 and all of my issues have gone away.
It just works effortlessly, and is so much more compatible with Ableton on a Windows platform.
One major headache gone and I now realize there was no way I could continue with what I had.

Re: John Bonham Drums
While I'm a practitioner of "realistic" drum programming, it is a little bit of a crazy pastime which requires a lot of pre-planning. EG to get a Glynn Johns 3 mic sound, or a Bonham "mics in the hallway" sound requires the user to use Session Drums in a way that the interface doesnt readilly ...

Great advice thank you. Even after my limited playing around in Ableton, I totally get what you are saying.
Looking around now for options on the net.

Re: John Bonham Drums
Many of us here use Live for other things than electronic music.
You should definitely study the topic of room mic compression to get John Bonham's kind of sound.
If you've got Live Suite there's great acoustic drums packs (Session drums...)
OK thank you. A starting point was what I needed ...

I'm probably a little different to you guys as I'm a guitarist who wants to create music via Ableton incorporating my guitar and bass lines. So I'm a rock guy and really enjoying working with Ableton.

OK, thank you all very much. Really enjoying Ableton and creating so much more than my guitar playing alone can do. I will research all of these options.

Best PC audio interface for Ableton?
Hi all, after asking several embarrassing questions I'm up and running well....If you don't ask you don't get.
I'm currently using an Avid Mbox Mini which does the job ok, but I'm constantly switching drivers to listen on the speakers or headphones.
And again to hear my instrument along with my ...

Re: Studio monitors...Yes or No (for me)
It should allow one device in Live and another within windows (just not both ASIO devices). Just cannot select 2 different I/O devices within Live like you can on Mac.
