Re: How do I get TRUE mono????
I think you can right click the pan and choose dual pan mode (probably forgetting the correct term). then pan both of the dual controls to the same value to get a true mono signal that you can pan to a specific point.

Re: Are some kicks on Splice too bad for mastering?
if it sounds fine on its own, but after output, it’s distorting, your kick and/or master level is probably too loud. turn down and export at a usable volume—usually you want at least like 2 db of headroom. it’s generally not a great idea to be concerned with your LUFS at the mixing stage. that’s wha...

Re: Basic Gain Function 0db
do you have another plugin that has a knob that takes gain to -?
you could skip the M4L patching and just create a preset with a macro for that plugin, where you have one macro control that sets a min value of -, and a max value of 0.00.

Re: Backing vocals not on point: How to do it?
if you turn off all effects, turn the clip gain down, and make sure the channel and master aren’t clipping (i.e. they aren’t showing red on the meters during playback), and you still hear distortion, you very likely recorded too hot and will need to re-record, as you were probably clipping the input...

Re: Arrangement position not placing 1 on the right beat
ah, okay, I think I understand now. you're using 'pick-up' beats/measures in a Session view clip. I think that can be done by opening the clip editor and shifting the Start marker for the clip to where you want the pick-up measure to begin, and the loop markers to where you want the loop to play. it...

Re: Arrangement position not placing 1 on the right beat
if I understand, you may just need to add a time signature marker at the point where you want the '1'. so just a 4/4 marker at that point, I think. it's been a while since I've needed to do that, but as I recall that's how to reset the meter whenever there are shortened (or lengthened) bars.

serious question—or more of a curiosity. have they really traditionally released on Tuesdays? I only have one Ableton release under my belt, so far.

Re: How do I Ignore Mouse Clicks when Recording?
generally, it’s good practice to avoid anything that makes unwanted sound when recording with a mic (other than the instrument/voice, of course). the usual recommendation would be to figure out a workflow that doesn’t require messing around with the mouse while you’re recording. you may still end up...

highlight Info View if info text has been edited
it would be awesome if the UI would draw my attention to the Info View for anything I've added my own info text to. I often add notes about the type of instrument settings I'm using to get a particular sound (e.g. this guitar, this pickup, etc.), but as a project goes along, I tend to forget I've do...

Re: ADAT extension
any device that works as an ADAT expander—even one that’s also an audio interface—should work without any regard to what the device it’s expanding is plugged into. the interface (not the expander) is what needs to be connected to the computer/recording medium. the expander does not talk to the DAW/c...

Re: Live 12 performance
not sure how it is now, but for Digital Performer 10, at least, the performance was utter garbage--to the point of being literally unusable with any third-party effects on a relatively beefy 12-core PC. I assume it's better on Mac, and better with DP11, but to the point about decisions not being tak...

Re: set in advance an empty audio clip to 5 beats in 4/4 time signature project
ah, I understand now! unfortunately, I don’t do much in a live setting (or in Session view), so I don’t know how/if that may be possible. sorry I can’t be much help—good luck!
