Re: Ducking Hybrid Reverb issue

Group the reverb and compressor into a rack.
Name that chain "ducked reverb", make the reverb 100% wet.
Make a new chain and name it "dry signal". Don't bother puttin any effects on there.

Now the reverb audio stream will duck . The drums won't.

Put the compressor before the reverb to duck ...

Ducking Hybrid Reverb issue

Hi all,

I have a hybrid reverb effect on a drum track. I want to duck the effect when the drum hits play, so I have grouped it with a compressor which is sidechained to the drum track signal. However, the compressor is reducing the sound of the drum hits, not the effect - when the ratio is turned ...

Re: External HD startup causing dropout

I had a similar issue, so I changed the external HDD for an external SSD (with M2 Mac mini)
No problems at all since then. I store all the content files on the SSD (e.g. Native Instruments content, Spitfire Audio content and all my sample files as well as all the Ableton packs).

Okay, thank you ...

External HD startup causing dropout

Hi all,

I regularly use several VSTs with libraries which I have stored on an external hard drive.

My issue is that whenever I haven't triggered an instrument from such a plugin for some time, the HD starts whirring (going from a rest state to starting up, I guess) and during this period the ...

Re: Show sample that is being played in Simpler

Hi all, pretty simple question.....

When using the drum rack, the sample that was last played is shown in the attached Simpler. This is not the same in Sampler - I have to manually select the sample in the Zone section to display it in the attached Simpler. Is there any way of changing this ...

Inverted / Ascending Saw waveform in Wavetable LFOs

Hi all,

I can't figure out a way to change the direction of the saw waveforms in Wavetable's LFO section.

I think this is clear, but to clarify further...

By default, each saw waveform in the LFO starts at it's maximum level and descends at 90° to it's lowest. It is a slope descending from left ...

Re: significance of a waveform above the zero line

Hmm, no, not exactly. Every waveform will have some parts above the average and some below the average. This is, after all, the nature of averages. And the DC offset is, in essence, just the average amplitude of a waveform.

So it isn’t that the parts above and below the average (i.e., above and ...

Re: significance of a waveform above the zero line

This is known as a DC offset (or a number of other similar terms): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DC_bias .

It is generally bad in audio, but it can be removed by subtracting (or adding) the DC offset from every sample. After doing so the ‘new’ DC offset will be zero.

Edit: That said, you are ...

significance of a waveform above the zero line

Hi all,

I'm trying to understand how to understand sound wave graphs, and there's one thing that I can't find an answer to anywhere online.

I know that the frequency (which we hear as pitch) is represented by how condensed the waves are horizontally and that the amplitude of a wave (which we hear ...

Re: creating drum breakdowns live

Session View can do that, you only need to load the MIDI parts in one or more tracks and set them to Legato mode, then maybe add one empty MIDI Clip to play the "mute" parts.

You can also load in multiple Tracks and just use 0 (zero) to disable Clips, and again you can always load a mute Clip to ...

Separate the “midi” track from the “instrument” track. Route the first to the other. Mute the midi track to create breaks.
thank you, that makes a lot of sense!

creating drum breakdowns live

Hi all,

When i started making music i was using fruityloops and then reason. With both of these programs, once I created an initial drum pattern, I could create breakdowns and variations live by simply muting and soloing different tracks in the drum machine. This method utilised the fact that ...
