Re: Windows 11 is a bust

Windows 10 will be supplied with updates until 10/2025. after that you could freeze the system, try windows 11 again, which could be frustrating, or switch to mac. Alternatively, you could test live on Linux (or choose another DAW that runs on Linux). Freezing Windows 10 from 10/2025 could in princi...

Re: Best value-for-money second-hand laptop processors for Ableton 12

I thing a 8-core ryzen cpu or a used m1 pro are ok. However, this does not mean that the system will automatically run well as an audio system.

Re: Structure and process for digitalizing vinyls

You can do this in every audio editor like wavelab, audacity and also ableton live. Re: Stability issues

I also had the luck of crashes and in my case it was due to a VST plugin. This plugin was part of a project and every time I tried to open the project, Live crashed. I then had a suspicion and simply deleted the plugin - now the project could be opened again - it did complain because the plugin was ...

Re: AMD Threadripper 2920X // Multi Cores Performance

Your problem is not the CPU performance, but the latencies. The possible latencies determine whether your system is suitable for real-time audio processing. If one or more poorly programmed drivers block computing time, dropouts will occur - it will crack. Install LatencyMon (LM), switch off the vir...

Re: A Quest for Optimal Ableton Performance

The younger the Live version the slower the whole thing. Thats all. I have live 8.5 on a macbook 2.1 with 4gb ram and ssd, which is a lame cucumber by today's standards, and it's fast as an arrow. The algorithms seem to have become more elaborate. something else to note: the index service in Live ne...
