Anyway, I switched the MacOS Mic Mode to Standard and that fixed it! Of course it was just a simple switch flip :roll ...

Not a silly question at all! And nope, this happens even when there are no effects on the track. Additionally, the master track usually only has an instance of the SoundID Reference VST and a Utility device.
