There are lots of dj controllers... granted. Which ones are you thinking of? Maybe I'm missing my ultimate controller somewhere!

Re: The controller I wish I had...
Fair enough... For myself when djing with live, I don't find myself launching clips all that often, and certainly not 8 across. I usually only work with 2 tracks playing at a time. More is not better for me... I actually prefer the 2 turntables paradigm, but don't want to be haulling two turntables ...

So, how about this:

I'm imagining having two boxes on the screen that can be moved around independently...

So here's a mockup of what I think would be a better ableton dj controller... The APC is so unwieldy and the 20 kept the wrong controls...
Whaddaya think?

Re: Note Mode for the APC40 - Python Scripts
Hi Hanz! Thanks for the great update! Out of curiosity, how hard would it be to make the track encoder groups all user mappable as under "Send C"? On a sort of related note, how hard to re-order the functions of the mixer groups such that User1, 2, 3 come first? What does lock/load mean? I...

Re: Note Mode for the APC40 - Python Scripts
Hi Hanz. Again, loving your stuff! I did some more judicious editing of your R4 package, and got the Track Control stuff disabled without breaking anything else. I wound up having to fall back to a userconfiguration.txt along with Bome's to make the secondary automap group work, but it works! I'll b...

Re: Note Mode for the APC40 - Python Scripts
On a separate, mostly unrelated note... It seems like it would be cool if someone with the knowhow would do a good abstraction of these things for midi implementation. What I am after would be along the lines of LiveOSC where various functions are exposed and controlled by midi control numbers provi...

Re: Note Mode for the APC40 - Python Scripts
Thanks for all that you do Hanz! This is awesome. As it turns out in my hacking up of your scripts and fiddling with the nocturn script, I break the shifted functions... I'm no programmer, so instead I offer my thanks for your work and I'll be looking forward to your future scripts. I really ...

Re: Note Mode for the APC40 - Python Scripts
Ok, so I hacked up what I want. Almost. I used the Nocturn remote script and by substituting the correct base numbers and channels, I have the Track Control group following the selected device, able to browse the first four banks of parameters. In the APC40 scripts, I removed all references to the t...

Re: Note Mode for the APC40 - Python Scripts
How hard would it be to create a script that made the track control knobs and buttons into the same thing as the device control knobs and buttons. The idea would be so that you can lock the two groups to different racks and devices on the fly. Maybe in the form of two separate control surface script...

Re: Note Mode for the APC40 - Python Scripts
Checking out your 40 20 script, and so far I am totally impressed. Things that could be different: Cue level controls fine tempo normally, course tempo when shifted. -nevermind, I read more of your site, and I think I understand why this works this way. I think it would be cool if the LED feedback i...

Re: Syncing loops to the BPM and Warp Slave/Master modes.
Umm, what is your global quantize value set for? Theh default is 1 bar. Also, in the system preferences, what is the default launch quantization value set to? Set it to global if it's not.
How long are your drum loops? 1 loop exactly or longer?

Re: Live not shutting down completely?
I've had a similar issue with various versions including 8.1.3. For me, it seems related to routing my APC40 through Bome's for fun stuff... If I map the APC40 directly, I don't get the issue. If I don't use the APC40 I don't get the issue. Only with virtual midi and Bome's...
