I shall give that a go and let you know how I get on... Think it might be some out of date Waves plugins that I use although they've never been a problem before...

sorry mate... didn't mean to come across like that. am using Live 7.0.1 on a powerbook g4 12"/1.5ghz/1.25gb running osx 10.4.11 through a motu 828mk2 all with up to date drivers etc.

anyone have any ideas? still not heard back from ableton support...

When I installed v7 I could get reasonable amount of playback before the core audio would crash (meters go full on both sound card and main out of live) and program would have to be restarted. Email Ableton they told me to delete preferences.cfg and undo.cfg and the now the second I hit play it ...
