Is it at all possible that Live has mistakenly selected the wrong audio? It would have had the same name as the correct audio but would be everso slightly longer ...

This has been happening on all versions of Live, at least 7, 8, 9, & 10. No one here or at Ableton can or will tell you why it happens, even if you produced a crash report (though it might, but it won't definitely solve it). It's apparently hard to pinpoint.

I have. I typically have it on the "looks like 1440 x 900" setting for a little more screen real estate. But I just switched to check, and I'm still seeing the flickering at default scaling ...

What would the MBA (MacBook Air) be required to playback? Typically how many tracks/loops?
What kind of buffer would you need? 32/64/128 etc.......

Live, I have not used a set up like this with a MBA but in general, the CPU is tested more by plugs/fx, than by playing audio.
