i use a trick for this.....

switch the grid of midi clip to "narrowest" and move the note left or right to have groove change. is usefull also for create amazing shuffle if used only on certain intruments (snare,hihat)

This is a simple but very powerfull trick, i had experience this personally in many of my electro or break track. This trick it can be use on any sequencer. I use it on Ableton:

- take a midi track and create an empty clip

- write a break loop of 4 beat (also possible with more) 1-2-3-4

- create ...

i use ableton 5 and 6 on G4 1ghz 768 ram and now 7 on G5 dual 2ghz 3,5 ram
and sometimes it crash anyway.... thats is problem of softwares.

on the render i dont hear problem is only a monitoring problem i suppose and of course the kind of vst used. I'll try out some other "workaround"

randomly is coming are coming out clicks pops and white noise, they dont influence the recording but are very annoying.

I use Ableton 6.0.10 PowerMac G5 dual 2ghz 3,5 ram, MotuPre8 firewire
driver updated and buffer audio at maximum.
