clicks pops and white noise

randomly is coming are coming out clicks pops and white noise, they dont influence the recording but are very annoying.

I use Ableton 6.0.10 PowerMac G5 dual 2ghz 3,5 ram, MotuPre8 firewire
driver updated and buffer audio at maximum.

what can be?

i forgot.... during the problem the cpu is around 1 - 2% .

Yes I seem to have this problem too. Low CPU usage but still slight crackles can be heard in MIDI channels - similiar to listening to a piece of vinyl (without using the vinyl distortion of course!) These crackles can then be heard on a render.

Same problem regardless of the VSTi being used.

on the render i dont hear problem is only a monitoring problem i suppose and of course the kind of vst used. I'll try out some other "workaround"
