Re: Does audio to midi work for anyone?

I guess I'm not getting the transient thing. I just sang a bass part along to a click and converted it to midi. Then I took the same audio clip and quantized it, fixing any warp markers that were off and making sure that each note had its own marker snapped to the grid and anything that I didn't wan...

Re: Does audio to midi work for anyone?

I had a quick go, got best results with harmony, but had to delete the highest notes as they were wrong. Yeah, I got the same thing. That was weird, it's like it picked out some harmonics in the guitar sound that were barely audible and decided they were notes. overall I'm surprised how well harmon...

Re: What happened to the opto setting for compressor in 9?

i get that it's kinda of confusing them changing things on us, but it's super cool to know that Live allows us to look back in simple way while still moving forward. yeah, they think of everything. it's kind of funny how they subtly force us to do things the new way while still making it possible t...

Re: Does audio to midi work for anyone?

I've been practicing with it and I'm getting better results now. One thing I realized is that you need to be in concert pitch. A lot of times if I get an idea I just fire up a new live project and sing into a new track with no pitch reference. But it makes sense that doing that would confuse the alg...

Re: Does audio to midi work for anyone?

any tips on how you're getting good results? does she have to make a conscious effort not to sing too legato? or does she sing a particular sound that works? I tried doing very clear Da Da Da type of lines with lots of space between the notes and it still was hit or miss. maybe live just hates my vo...

Re: What happened to the opto setting for compressor in 9?

if you import your old presets it will still be able to open them and it runs the compressor in a legacy mode and the old buttons appear.

Re: What happened to the opto setting for compressor in 9?

am I the only one that cares about this? the more I think about it, it makes me really mad. I can understand ableton's philosophy of wanting to simplify things, but why would they remove buttons that actually had an effect on the sound of the device and then add buttons that only change the look of ...

Re: Does audio to midi work for anyone?

It's the missing notes that really make me scratch my head. It's just flat out ignoring certain parts and leaving silence in places where there is obviously a note. And I'm talking something recorded at a healthy level and with an obvious tone, not like it's just filtering out ghost notes or unvoice...

Re: Does audio to midi work for anyone?

Yeah, I haven't tried it on a drum beat yet. I did try beatboxing and that was all over the place as well. It seems like maybe they intended it more for ripping off stuff from other recordings and less for inputting notes quickly with your mouth. which is a shame because it's obviously possible to h...

Does audio to midi work for anyone?

This was the main reason I upgraded. I often write stuff by singing ideas just to get them down and then replaying them later. An audio to midi feature that worked properly would be very useful to me but this one doesn't seem useable at all. I don't expect it to be 100% accurate, but it's leaving ou...

Render Engine / Render Queue / Sync to itunes

I think it would be nice if Live had a Render Engine that would run as a separate program. Basically a second version of Live with no gui. This way you could add multiple projects into the render queue and have them exporting in the background while continuing to work in the main Live gui. It would ...

Re: A compendium on SR and bit depth - Ableton's sound quality

Before reading, please understand: Almost everything you wrote about digital audio is totally false. Before going any further you should try to understand that digital audio accurately reproduces sound up to a frequency of 1/2 of the sample rate. Increasing the sample rate captures higher frequenci...

Electric tuning issues

I have been having some trouble getting Electric to be in tune with my guitar from time to time. So I ran it out to a tuner, made a clip of a scale playing up several octaves, and I noticed that while it's rock solid in the lower octaves, it starts to drift quite a bit in the higher range. This is w...
