Ok... I did do that. I recorded in audio. it definitely worked... but now I can't play it back... any advice??

So I just bought Ableton Live... I have a cheap $13.00 computer mic and stuff. I eventually planned to buy some mics and such... but I have no idea where to start. Ableton doesn't recognize said computer mic. do I need to make a midi purchase now, and if so, what do I get? and how much am I looking ...
