For some reason, the Kore VST wasn't recognized at all by Live 6 on my machine. I was able to fix this problem by removing the Kore.dll's, running Live again, quitting Live, replacing the dll's, and running Live again.

BFD

I'll upgrade to Vista once I know it supports all my music apps and hardware. The article is interesting, but I don't particularly care that Vista is late. XP works well for me. The main reason I'll update to Vista is for the security features, and the beefs that Paul Thurrott lays out in his ...

!Bug in tempo automation

Repro:

1. Open the Master track and draw in a "sudden" tempo automation. E.g. original tempo is 160 new tempo is 120 at bar 20.
2. Notice that bar 21 the tempo returns to 160. Delete this tempo node and notice that the tempo now stays at 120 for the duration of the song.
3. Leave the time marker at ...

Soft synth default track names.

If you drag a soft synth into the clip area to create a new track in Live 4 it comes up as "MIDI".

I'm hoping in Live 5 it comes up with the name of the soft synth.

Reason I want this is, when adding new soft synths during a performance, the extra step of ctrl-E and naming the track is too time ...

Live 5: Default track name for soft synth tracks?

Can someone with the beta tell me, if you drag a soft synth into the clip area to create a new track, what is the default track name? In Live 4 it comes up as "MIDI".

I'm hoping in Live 5 it comes up with the name of the soft synth?

Reason I want this is, when adding new soft synths during a ...

Drag-n-drop instrument automatically names track?

Here's a mini-feature I've wanted - if I drag a new VST instrument into the blank area and it creates a new MIDI track, it would be great if the MIDI track's name was the name of the VST instrument (plus maybe an index or whatever.)

Also, check out DrumCore. It uses a lot of hard drive space, but sounds fantastic.

I recently acquired the Alienware 7700. It's really a "mobile desktop" and not a laptop, because it is quite large. It also has 4 fans which can contribute quite a bit of noise. Usually not too much noise, but in my case the two CPU fans have an unfortunate problem - they defectively cycle on and ...

I'll chime in here with one more point. I have the Indigo I/O PCMCIA card, which is neither USB nor Firewire, but it has a problem with both my Dell and Alienware laptops:

If I don't ground-lift the laptops' power I get a harsh buzzing sound in some amplified situations. I needed to get a three ...

I've kept up with the upgrades from 4.0 and each one has been perfectly stable for me. The only "bugs" I've run into have been there since 4.0 and aren't critical.
