You can't run the plugs in live. What you can do is load them in the Rewire Master and just use live for audio and midi feeds.
I don't think this a problem with Live's implementation of Rewire, I think it's a problem with Rewire. Is there any audio application that can host plugins when the application is a Rewire slave? I don't think so.
Any rewire slave implemented to Propellerhead specs will do t...

Does Live6 let you rewire VST in slave mode?

I have Live 5, which does not activate VST's and VSTI's in rewire slave mode. You have to render your instrument tracks to audio in order to rewire them to another application for mixdown.

Has this changed in Live6? If not, are there better workarounds with deep freeze, etc.? Thanks!

OK - I downloaded the 6.0.7 demo and tested one of my problem Sampletank songs. I must admit, reliability is better. Much better. In fact, if I always use the "stop clips" button to stop playback before exiting the program or stopping the transport, I don't get the "serioius error has occured" messa...

Thanks for posting - I have my fingers crossed. I'm still on 5.22 so I think I'll wait for the torture test. If you wouldn't mind posting back in a month or so with a reliability update, that would be great!

Sad. I stopped using Ableton Live for new song creation almost a year ago for the same reason. I just checked back in to see if v6 solved the issue.

Sampletank works fine in Cakewalk Project 5, and Reaper, BTW.

Re: newbie : VST Bug Fix
I got Ableton 4 Lite from an oem product, I'm considering switching to Ableton 5 upgrading. I like Live too much. To get rid of all my wires in the room I have selected SampleTank 2 and Sonic Synth 2 as VST instruments, prior to buy all three (it's gonna be a big investment) I'm exper...

Since I rely heavily on the sampletank engine, I have stopped using Live for MIDI completely. I waited over nine months for resolution of IK compatibility issues, then finally decided to really learn Project 5 for MIDI, and use Live 5 for audio only via rewire. That solved my problems.
