I've read some threads about problems with ST2 and L5. I've dowloaded the demo and it's seems to have some bugs (can't hear sound!). Anyway, can anyone who has/uses ST2 let me know if it's stable on L5 and whether it's worth dropping $$ on (for hip hop/R&B) etc - the samples alone may be worth it?
Good lookin' out...

have you ugraded to st 2.1 (with the stand alone mode)?
the reason i ask is that i'm using st 2.1 with live 5 on a pc and it works ok.
i did have some problems with 'silent running' but it was
very intermittent and seems to have resolved itself with 2.1
another problem i have noticed is that sometimes the first note i play after launching live/sample tank comes in with a crunch. but this seems to be fixed in recent versions of live.
I do get problems with the sound cracking up and cpu overloading on complex arrangements that used to play alright on live 4. it gets worse when the program has been running for a while. in general live 5 seems less cpu efficient and more memory hungry than live 4.
live 5 definately doesn't work well when starved of memory. i wouldn't want to run it with less than 1gb.
i strongly suspect that most of lives problems with cracking up the more you use it are related to bad memory managment, heap fragmentation, etc.

Im running an AMD 3700+ XP SP2 with 2GB RAM as a dedicated DAW. It is clean. Yes, I have ST 2.1, and 2.0.9, 2.0.7, 2.0.5 and 1.4 LE. Yes, 2.1 runs runs better than the earlier versions. But "silent running" still occurs, especially during multitimbral use and I get errors when trying to save. Most of the time I have to "end task" to close Live, and upon restart, Live will recover. But, this "improvement" is not acceptable. Live is my favorite program for workflow, but that doesn't matter to me if Sampletank locks the Live 5 application unexpectedly.
I'm not sompletely giving up on Live, but I do not recommend that anyone play a show or engineer for a paying client using Sampletank/Live combo.
