Make the 2012 your main machine. When you want to run PT, wake up the 2009. Use a cheap KVM switch.

Re: Sync two Macs
The only change is in the first section. To create the ad-hoc network, all you gotta do is click on the Airport icon, and then "Create Network".

Re: How to use two MacBook laptops splitting Monitors
Apple has a native thing called 'Target Display Mode', but afaik it only works on iMacs. You could get a video input device like the Elgato Video Capture and capture via USB. You could also use screen sharing over a Thunderbolt network connection.... But most of your options are still going to be mo...

Re: Ableton Live 9.2 MIDI remote scripts source code
While I'm thinking about it, does anyone know how to use __timer_count?
I'd like to do some timer based stuff, and time.sleep(x) sleeps the whole thread of course.

Re: Ableton Live 9.2 MIDI remote scripts source code
This is great, you are great. The VCM600 scripts didn't work right away for me, so I did some debugging. The log (~/Library/Preferences/Ableton/Live 9.2/log.txt) recorded this: 8800 ms. RemoteScriptError: raise index in range(len(self._track_eqs)) or AssertionError 8800 ms. RemoteScriptError: TypeEr...

Re: What game are you playing now
I just wasted the majority of a 3 day weekend bingeing on Diablo II instead of working on music.
I'm fucking embarrased, but I needed to get it off my chest.

Re: Updated computer, worse performance
You've got some pretty serious hardware in your computer. This sounds like an issue with your software. Try a clean reinstall. Back up all your data and reformat the hard drive, then install Yosemite. I'm on my fifth mac and I'm afraid the bad news is that upgrading your computer from the OS X versi...

Re: Live 9 with Mac OS X FileVault2 disk encryption?
The issue I'm talking about only happens when the drive is unlocked. It's more like 2 times out of how many times these computers have been rebooted during that time period. Maybe 2 / 2000 ?H20nly wrote:2 out of 30, that's not great odds. Any idea what other factors, if any, may have contributed?

Re: Live 9 with Mac OS X FileVault2 disk encryption?
Just my experiences. At work I manage ~30ish Macs. Since I deployed FV2 last year, I've seen 2 issues where the disk wouldn't unlock properly at boot and I had to do recovery.

Re: Live 9 with Mac OS X FileVault2 disk encryption?
Steko dropped a nice little link bomb. Good explanations on all dem pages. Basically you option boot to a recovery partition, then open a terminal to do stuff. As described in steko's links, fdesetup is the utility you want. You can do man fdesetup at the cli to see everything, and you can also chec...

Re: Live 9 with Mac OS X FileVault2 disk encryption?
FileVault 2 works nicely and the performance hit is almost unnoticable. 99.9% of the time there are no problems. KEEP YOUR RECOVERY KEY. 0.1% of the time it does something weird and fails to properly unlock your disk at boot. It's extremely rare, and I've only see such issues twice in two years amon...

Re: SSDs, HDDs, and lots of conflicting info
I use the first option because it's very easy to manage and the most cost effective. 256gb SSD for system/apps/etc, and then a 3tb network drive for media and general storage. My main sample library lives on the SSD and less-frequently used stuff lives on the larger network drive. I save all my proj...

i made the racks, then stacked them on a wire rack i found in the alley. then put a tabletop and legs, and a shelf and legs from ikea parts. diy till i die. i like writing dance music while standing because the whole point of dance music is to dance so you might as well move your body while writing ...
