Recording XONE mixes

Hi y'all.

I've recently got my hands on an XONE 4D. Lovely sound quality, and versatile - in that our sound system can happily use a mixture of decks, CDJs, and laptops through the one mixer.

I've discovered how to route the master output back into Ableton (using input channels 7/8 - not sure if ...

XONE 4D with Live

Hi Dougie,

Saw your videos on Youtube a while ago, whilst I was waiting months for my 4D to turn up. Now I've finally got it, I have a couple of queries:

1) I had heard that A&H supply a basic Ableton template, with an initial set of MIDI assignments set up - rather than having to start from ...

I ordered two Faderfoxes this week - one LV2 and one LX2, as the way I DJ involves triggering lots of loops.

I sent the bank transfer to Germany on Monday lunchtime, and the parcel turned up this morning - how fast is that ?

I'm sitting at work counting the minutes 'til I can get home and play....

Just to add my two penn'orth to the comments above.

For DJing with Live, you must pre-prepare your tracks. Once you've warped the track to the start beat you require, you should at least create a clip for an intro loop, a clip for the main body of the track, and a clip for an outro loop. If all ...

n reply to Matt's query above, I've been using a FW Audiophile for DJing throughout this year, and been very pleased with its sound quality and performance.

FWIW, I don't use Ableton for DJing sequential song files. For that I've been successfully using a cheap-but-stable DJ app. In combination with a Korg Kaoss mixer, I can do some pretty creative mixing in terms of loops, overdubs, sampling and FX. So I've no intention of ploughing through all my ...

Firewire Audiophile works fine on my Windows laptop too.

I'd echo the points above: I chose it over the excellent 410 because I didn't need the extra size and features offered by the more expensive model. The Audiophile lets me DJ via an external mixer, and I've been delighted with the stability ...

Nice work fella - I'm impressed.

This is why I love this growing computer music movement - it lets people make the music they really want to make - and people with a bit of nous, like Kompakt, can set up a music making environment exactly to their tastes.

BTW -For those of us not so hot with a ...

As mentioned above, laptop touchpads are neither use nor ornament.

I bought a trackball, which gives a fair degree of finesse - but with a much smaller footprint than a mouse. Believe me, this can be very useful when DJing with your laptop perched on the lids of the turntables !

Have fun.....
