Re: How to clean the rubbery coating on the sides of Push 2?

All these devices with that modern ruberised coating go this way (sticky and eroding) after a few years. It's not s durable coating and unfortunately there's no way to "repair" this coating. I think it's a bad choice personally but I guess it's sexy on the showroom floor. I predict in 5 years nobody...

Re: re: 'always on' - mpc style sample launcher in ableton - advice needed

this is not really another idea, but the same idea. The same problem. The same not very satisfying conclusion. I have to set the "MIDI from" on each of the Tracks to receive from specific MIDI hardware devices. It's quite frustrating because often I'd prefer to have a particular track receive input ...

Re: Bitwig UI makes Live look old-fashioned

have the Abes offered you a job yet??? We did, but when Angstrom found out he could only enter the building through an old-fashioned "door", he politely (yet vocally) declined. Handy tip: The door handle for the Ableton offices is kept in the filing cabinet, right next to the doormouse, doorm...

Re: Bitwig UI makes Live look old-fashioned

have the Abes offered you a job yet??? He turned up for an interview, but they didn't like the look of him :? I've never had an interview with Ableton, but I do strongly doubt they'd hire me. I'm far too annoying and opinionated, plus I don't believe I have any of the key skills at a high eno...

Re: Bitwig UI makes Live look old-fashioned

Angstrom, you've already been quite vocal about the Browser for the past (8? or more ?) years and I'd personally be more interested in your opinion about anything else that the Browser, UI and workflow wise in the context of this thread. well, of course I hate to harp on about the browser but it's ...

Re: Bitwig UI makes Live look old-fashioned

Well, yes we can certainly agre that Ableton are improving Live. And the addition of several features such as grouping groups and HiDef fonts on Windows were of course welcome. I'm not saying "each version is exactly the same as the last" though, I'm saying "many UI elements are left as loose ends" ...

Re: Bitwig UI makes Live look old-fashioned

Well, yes, I'm aware of all the workarounds for the abominable browser, but my point is that they are lagging a decade behind on interaction design. Not "the visual style" I mean - interaction design is very bad. it is not matching the competition in quality. Lets set ourselves a beginner's UI desig...

Re: Bitwig UI makes Live look old-fashioned

No. What I mean is ... as they talk about that device and demonstrate it. As they talk about their DAW and demonstrate it ... it shows both progression and forward thinking. It shows an end to end mentality. When watching all videos or using the software, there are gaps in implementation, but the pr...

Bitwig UI makes Live look old-fashioned

I don't own Bitwig, but looking at that new modular interface of theirs the design is really exceptional. The visual aspect of course is very apealing, modern, shiny, stylish, etc. But the interaction and signal flow seems very well thought out and delivers a complex interaction with a modular envir...

Re: Best way to switch between 'backing' track and live instrument

In the past I've done it this way: two tracks, let's say one has a piano VST on it, the other a recorded Piano part. Enable Monitor on for the VST track. Group them and call the group "keys". Now you have one track which you can apply send effects to, and control the volume of with your main mixer-c...

Re: Scripting the appearance of Live (themes, colour / preferences)

I'm not sure how deeply you want to change the overal look. You can change some colours, for example track and clip colours, which is quite handy.
but you can't change integral stuff like the vector shapes of the frames or layouts of buttons.

by my understanding of your setup I'd use collapsed group tracks which contain the 3 tracks, and turn off quantise for the clip trigger.

Re: Live 10.1

comping would be a large feature addition so I cannot imagine them adding it in any point version. Point versions do have features added but they are usually building on what's already in place. Take a look at what got added in the point versions of L9 . There's nothing so huge as comping in there. ...

I was under the impression that the 11" and the 12.9" were identical, save for the size? Anyway: are there any non-Apple fanboys in this thread? I'd like to know how an iPad works alongside a PC; are there major advantages missed by not being all Apple? I use an app called FileBrowser by stratosphe...
