Re: Turn off indexing

I've noticed that if a song is taking minutes to load, and "disk buffering" light is on, and the little status bar at the bottom is crawling 20%, 21%, 22%, showing samples loading... in slow motion (It happens a lot to me) I've found that killing the indexing process makes the song load instantly! t...

This is a software car crash of industrial proportions. It is caused by Apple of course.

Re: Does proxy editing wav / mp3 work in Ableton?

you can proxy edit, but I wouldn't do it the way you are doing. And it's not actually necessary in your case. Firstly: There's zero point in converting to Mp3 because as others have said: Live doesn't actually load MP3s it just converts them to wave files and uses those files in the cache. Mp3s are ...

Re: MPE support.

People inside Ableton have been pretty upfront that implementing MPE means a complete rewrite of the MIDI and MIDI clip components of Live, which is some of the oldest code in the codebase. It is a VERY expensive feature for them to implement because of this and is the kind of thing that could trig...

Re: Megamixes - Warping older tracks, staying in time?

You need to warp the main track well. Even if it sounds like crap as you add and adjust markers. Just warp it to a simple beat, or click. Get it warped to the beat, but sounding terrible! The critical part is that when you put this track in arrangement this option is available. When activated the cl...

Re: Megamixes - Warping older tracks, staying in time?

the info you need is here: https://www.ableton.com/en/manual/audio-clips-tempo-and-warping/ Section 9.2.1 Tempo Leader/Follower The clip that is the current tempo leader will play as if warping was off, but with one important difference — the rest of the Live Set will be warped so that it plays in s...

Re: Is it 36 years too late to start music production ?

Why would it be too late?

You should enjoy the process of making music and learning how to get the sounds you want. That's about all there is to making music.

Success is making a track and somebody says "That sounds good".

Re: Rec delayed using ERM Multiclock (Is that to be expected?)

Aha. You will be ok then.
That's what I do, AL as the master. It's a bit of a pain but it's the only available option.

I misunderstood and thought the external clock was the master.

Re: Rec delayed using ERM Multiclock (Is that to be expected?)

You might find that this above linked method is not the answer to your particular issue. Live, when using an external clock, will deactivate all latency compensation. For a quick visual example a when EXT is active (external clock indicator) all the usual manual track delay/offsets are deactivated. ...

Re: “Live unexpectedly quit” on startup

You should contact support as this is outside the ability of anyone here to fix. that said: If its crashing on start and your default set has a Max device in it somewhere - go get the latest Max 8 from Cycling74, install it and use Ableton prefs to point to the alternative version of Max. I had the ...

Re: Behringer FCB1010 exp problem

Each footswitch is a "preset". when you press one of those it has a bunch of other things saved in the preset, such as what the CV input is doing, and what the expression pedals are set to do. The expression pedals are linked to the currently active foot switch. Essentially what is required is to go...

Re: CV Tools: Audio interface and cable adapter question.

I have an RME interface and don’t use it to send CV at all (it’s a UFX and they’re not DC coupled). On your RME you have two ADAT outputs. Each of those can send 8 channels down a fibreoptic cable If you have the cash for an ES-3 you can turn those 8 ADAT channels into 8 DC coupled voltage outputs....
