Another technique to try is using the "Legato" setting in clips. For example, let's say you have loop recorded a 4 bar piece 4 times. I think it's a great idea. There are clearly at least two major steams (and maybe even more) of Live use: DJ and Production. I fall on the production side. While I enjoy reading some of the DJ posts the truth is that because of their special needs it isn't all that helpful in terms of techniques ...
