I don't think we'll have to wait decades.
I mean, by then we'll at LEAST be using OSX 10.8. ;)

So am I, and Live 7 seems to have the same midi out freeze bug.
Ditto here: Live 7 user. Hope to see a Lion patch etc. :)

Actually, I think I fixed it.

I reinstalled Reason, and now all is good.

Thanks Christian! You got me looking in the right place for the fix!

Hi Christian,

The ReWire file in the path you listed is version 1.7.

And Reason's at version 4.0.1, which it claims is the latest.

Ma I behind anywhere? If so, how do I update?

Thanks!

Rewire version is too old?

Hi,

I just upgraded from a G4 to an Intel iMac, and installed the latest version of Live, 7.0.10. But on launch I get a notice that says:
"The installed ReWire version is too old for this implementation. No ReWire slaves will be available."

I also have Reason 4, and it seems to be fine, but what's ...

Live 7 Upgrade Skip? (Have 5, just got "6 to7" upgrade pkg)

I sent an e-mail to Ableton Customer support too, but does anyone here have any experience in skipping versions?

I have Live 5, but just got the "Live 6 to 7" upgrade boxed (long story).

Do I need to return it, or is there some other option like buying a (legit) version 6 serial number?

Thanks!

MIDI "Auto Record"?

Is there a way to have Live start recording MIDI as soon as it receives data?

In Digital Performer there's an option like that. It's like a special "Record" button ("auto record" I think) that starts recording the instant you play a note.

I've looked through the Live manual, and searched here but ...

So another alternative is to simply record in Peak or Sound Forge and to hell w/ measures, tempo, etc.

well, isn't what Mozart did w/ his clamshell iBook?

cool.

Thanks for all your ideas and thoughts.
You folk rock.... and stuff.
:)

Just to be clear, yes, I sometimes compose music that's more fluid w/ respect to tempo, and not rivited to a one or two BPMs.

The question came a the feeling that when I work w/ computers I usually DO stick to strict tempos ...

some good ideas here, but it does seem like the bottom line is either preplan, or rework after recording.

And I know the software can't think ahead for me; I'm just wondering if anyone knows better ways than I've already thought. Besides, isn't sticking to regulated tempos kind of limiting?

how do you create a multi-tempo tune?

I've been using sequncers and Live for a while, but here's one thing that always gets me stuck:

When I play piano in an improvisational/compositional style, my tempo is all over the place. But I haven't been able to catch that spirit electronically when using synths and Live.

I've tried to get ...

me too

Yep, I have the same problem.
It's as if it needs to render itself once, and then it's fine.

And this happens even on small files, although on BIG ones the problem at least makes sense... kind of.

Mac 1.5GHz G4, 1 GB RAM, OS 10.3.9, if that matters.

But What About Live?

When will there be a Live that's native for these Mactel monsters, i.e. "Universal Application"?
