MIDI -> Keystroke Converter For PC?

Hey there - what are you folks using to convert MIDI messages -> keystrokes for things like deleting clips on the fly? Are these programs difficult to configure? Thanks much for the help!

if you're using a mac, there's an application called "controlaid". it's free, and allows you to convert keystroke commands to midi messages. it's free, too. can't beat the price ;)

you might also consider the FMR Audio Really Nice Preamp. It pretty transparent, but from what I've heard, it sounds as good as things twice or three times its price. They carry it @ Mercenary Audio, among others.

PC Laptop Results W/ Live 5?

Hey there. I'm thinking of purchasing a PC laptop for music production, and I was wondering what models folks on the board are using - also, what kind of performance y'all are getting. Any feedback/advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Matt

Behring FCB-1010 Problem W/ Live

Hello fellow ableton-ers, I have run into a problem w/ using my Behringer FCB-1010 w/ Live v5. I downloaded a MIDI sysex file to the Behringer unit that programmed it to send note-on messages (10 per patch) and continuous controller messages (2 per patch). I enabled the 1010's port in Live for MIDI ...

the thing about the fcb-1010 is that by default half the switches are assigned to program change commands. live likes midi note on messages, so what you have to do is send a midi sysex message to the fcb-1010 to use all switches as midi note on's. then you're golden - $150 us and this thing rocks!! ...

i e-mailed ableton support about this - they said there were no plans in the works for this. i find that a bit hard to believe, though.
