So I take back what I said.

External Drive is unplugged. I started up fresh, then let it sit for 20 minutes before doing anything. Fan is cranking and CPU is up to 78%.

Also the Activity Monitor doesn't add up. According to it I'm using like 45%, but it says 78% used.

I've since restarted, and it seems to be better.

But when that was going on, there wasn't 80% of stuff going on in the activity monitor. Only about 10-15. There was some mystery process or processes that I couldn't see in Activity Monitor, hogging my CPU.

Is it possible Time Machine couldn't have ...

I just upgraded to OSX Catalina. By CPU is at 80% and I only have this Chrome tab and the Activity Monitor open.

Obviously I can't use Live. It just chokes and plays noise.

Anyone else having this problem?

This is weird. In most songs, when you click on a Midi note in the editor, it sounds out.

For one of my songs, this doesn't happen.

Is there a setting somewhere that might be distinct between songs?

I have a MOTU 8Pre, and I use Live. I've been using it on a pretty powerful Windows box (dual 3.0 cores) running XP, but I've recently bought my first Mac, dual 2.8 with 8GB or RAM, and I plan on moving all of my audio and music apps over to that, and retiring or retooling my Windows box ...

Nevermind, I figured this out.

The shading means that the track is being preempted by clips in the same track that you launched from the Session view. Just needed to click the little "Back to Arrangement" button and it returned to normal. Kind of confusing though.

For some reason, whenever I play my song, one of my tracks simply won't play. In arrangement view, after hitting play, the track appears with purple background behind it. In Session View, I've set Monitor to Auto. and it's not muted, nor is recording enabled.

Thanks guys. I'm not too worried about battery life, as there will always be a plug handy where I'll be performing. I just don't want to have to worry about Live grinding to a halt when I add reverb to a track.
