I think I know the effect he's talking about. I was able to easily achieve that in Live last autumn, using Simpler and mapping the startpoint/length/looplength parameters to some MIDI knobs. If I adjusted those parameters while playing a sample, it did those cool stuttering effects. But I've tried i...

Yes. Once you've set up all your assignments, go into Preferences/Defaults, and click on "save as default project" (or words to that effect... I'm not at my Live pc right now...)

I don't see why that wouldn't work. At any rate, Midi Yoke is free, and takes about 10 minutes to find, download, and install, so just try it and see. It's a handy utility to have around, anyhow.

I'll be curious to see if 4200rpm will meet my needs, or if I'll need to upgrade the drive...

I'm leaning towards the HP zv5000z, with an AMD 3700+ and 1g RAM. - The best graphics adapter it offers is a 64M NVIDIA GeForce 4 440 Go + ...

Indeed, I've been hoping for this feature ever since I started with Live 2 years ago. Actually, I don't use plugins, but if this idea would work with the built-in effects I'd be plenty happy.

Live running under Codeweaver's WINE emulation?

Has anyone had any success in running Live in Linux, using WINE emulation? I actually got it to install completely, using Crossover office, but when I then try to run Live, it only momentarily adds a tab for Live on the taskbar, which immediately disappears. But I'm new to WINE, so maybe I'll figure...
