Very thorough responses thank you.
Let's say, $400 is not my limit.

Re: Ableton as a killer drum machine!
I'm using Live as a very powerful drum machine.

The delivered libraries are top notch (better than anything Ableton sells) and ...

Ableton as a killer drum machine!
Hi,
Been a while; I have been avoiding, postponing my desire to tame a drum machine to be a useful and creative tool for live music, esp of the more 20th century variety... I am what many here would call, old school -)
I want to create a more conventional drum machine, in effect, making a “machine ...

Where does a newbie ask very basic questions?
I have searched the manual and cannot find how to use spacebar in such a way that when i stop the track I am listening to, at a mid point or at any point,
hitting spacebar does not return to bar 1? I know using Shift + Spacebar will work for this purpose. But hitting Shift is an extra keystroke I ...

I am a full time long time pro musician.. mainly interested in playing bass lines either with the new killer bass product Ableton came out with and or Trilian . I want both options.

Re: Newbie question about capturing audio
Chuckling- Yes "odd" but I am not a drummer, though I play very rhythmically- bass, keyboards.
I am speaking about very short phrases. and only with attacks like a bass or bass drum, or hi hat or ride cymbal. Hard attacks, hard transients.
I was additionally fantasizing about copping the groove ...

Newbie question about capturing audio
I am a professional musician, I need help interpreting the rhythms that already exist in the long line of existing recordings.
Eg.. a sax player plays a melodic idea or a drummer plays a beat... if I want to write down that melodic idea, how can I be sure that my interpretation of his rhythmic ...

Re: sound quality
because internal resolution 32 bit or 64 bit float gives insane headroom without clipping or artifacts which if you don't have knowledge on how to properly mix for an end product of 16 bit / 44.1 (CD standard) will not translate.

controlling loops with Fantom G and fc 300
I have used Live ( by itself, a hassle to even reach it, while playing an acoustic piano.. and start stop or tap tempo, and change sets ) on stage as a simple drum machine and I am excited about making it a more integrated practical part of my music.

Re: Your favourite books about music....????
Just spending time ( the more, the better ) with a musical instrument ( I imagine that the term "musical instrument" will be challenged ) including the voice, is a great way to get more in touch with music.
