I actually ran into this problem a couple months ago... attaching an A/C adapter to the 2/6 did not work... [snip]
so the easy answer.. get yourself some ground loop isolators, found at electronic stores and car audio store...

Probably a good thing from the standpoint of putting together two complimentary product lines.

Possibly a bad thing if Midiman keeps absorbing companies and then bankrupt (rememer Gibson & Opcode?).

Re: individual tracks vs. whole song loops

Whatever works and allows you to accomplish what you need is the right way to do something. Software is just a tool to help you get there.

Do I feel a twinge of guilt when I mix down a loop with effects and then use in Live without using the raw sample and adding VST effects? Yes, until I realize I ...

Re: Ram

I have a question regarding memory. I have 512 s*itty ol' sdram with a p4 and my cpu is taking a beating running 12 tracks. Is throwing another 512mb stick of memory in the answer? Thanks

If you suspect a memory problem use the Windows Task Manager to find out if you're low on memory, though I ...

There's not a computer on the market that I'd buy and use the OEM internal sound on. The inaccuracies in frequency reproduction of most of them are so bad the noise isn't even necessarily your problem anymore.

Sp whatever you do don't rely on the OEM laptop soundcard for your mixing. Get a Quattro ...

thx mates!

i suppose i will order my inspirion next month but there is one big question left:

should i take the 3 year or the 1 year warranty option ??
the 1year option would punch down the whole price over 300 euros.

when i order the 1year warranty model i am in fear of getting a "resell" model ...

Re: Anyone uses a DELL Inspirion8200 ????

I've been using an Inspiron 8200 for about 5 months now and have no complaints - it's been quite a joy. It replaced an Inspiron 7500 as my main laptop.

The 7500 was good, but had some drawbacks (noise through USB audio when plugged in, battery "memory" issues), but the 8200 has none of these ...

You can get into hibernate/suspend either by selecting it from the Start Menu or by having it automatically activate after a period of inactivity.

The default settings in Windows activate it after a certain period of inactivity -- it went off on a laptop I had forgotten to turn it off on when I ...

I originally considered dual-booting with two partitions of XP, one for music, one for software development, but the hassle of maintaining the two partitions (you really must treat them each as separate machines for maintenence and update purposes) has prevented me from doing so.

So for now my ...

It sounds as if Geargasm had a suspend to hard disk partition that was factory installed. Whenever RAM is increased this partition must be resized or the computer can't possible fit the suspension into the allocated size. Back in the day this often required a utility from the OEM.

Personally, I ...

I partition my laptop drive into two partitions, one for the O/S (Xp or 2000) and application installations, the other for music and data files.

I always Ghost (with Norton Ghost) the main partition every few months to allow for easy restoration of the computer in case something goes wrong or the ...

Do you use any Midiman Midisports? I've had an occasional problem with them misbehaving under certain circumstances and have the device act as though it was unplugged. This causes the driver to have problems, and actually can crash Windows 2000.

The first thing I disable on any new computer is all ...
