Re: How map inputselect for sidechain on compressor to a knob?
Sounds like you want a lot of control. Maybe you need another controller like an Akai LPD8 or something. Or you could sacrifice some track launch buttons to serve your purpose. Or just simplify your set/controller.

Re: How map inputselect for sidechain on compressor to a knob?
Yeah, if your set is complex I'm guessing that the issue stems from plugin latency.
If you want to do sidechaining in Ableton in any way and keep the timing perfect, you have to avoid those plugins that cause a lot of it.

Re: How map inputselect for sidechain on compressor to a knob?
Well that's strange. Sounds like there's a deeper issue. I'm running Live in the background right now and doing exactly what we are talking about and it's working perfectly. Maybe it's worth calling tech support.

Re: How map inputselect for sidechain on compressor to a knob?
Do the sends thing and just map a button to the send with a min of -inf and a max of 0.
You hit the button, the send turns to max, and you're sending to a sidechain. Hit it again and it turns all the way down and you no longer have a sidechain signal, and no compression. All done.

Re: Any suggestions for Field Recorders?
I own the Edirol R-09HR, the Zoom H4n, and the Zoom Q3. Of those I like the Edirol R-09HR the best.
If I were to buy a new portable digital recorder today, I'd get a Sony PCM-M10. It sounds good, has a good layout, and the battery life is the best in the industry:

Re: New Live GUI
Anyway, i think Live's gui has always been a part of the whole concept. An easy overviewable, easy understandable mainpage without any useless decoration, 3D shadowish nonsense that doesn't help you at work anyway. If they change that they look like any other crap DAW out there. I hope they don't ...

Re: 2 easy but incredibly useful features for DJ's
I'm with you on this.
It would be nice to have a button that you could click that would open up all inspectors on TWO selected tracks. That way you could see clip view for two tracks (great for DJs), and even look at and modify the effects chain of two tracks simultaneously.

Re: How map inputselect for sidechain on compressor to a knob?
I'm with Dave. How many aux sends are you using on each project? If you're only using 2 for FX, you can use send C on your tracks to control the sidechain.
Just assign send C's output to "no output," (that way the sidechain isn't making it to the mater) and set the compressor to use Send C as a ...
