Many people on this forum when confronted with a midiless soul like myself recommend something like plogue Bidule....Well I tried it, but it simply doesnt work as it says, and in a strange way it pops up in my other apps when it shouldnt. It reminds me a little of Microsft word....kinda takes over ...

I'll have to check out the Plogue. Is it possible to load multiple vst instuments into plogue and switch between them somewhat easily, or load multiple instruments and route a different controller to each?

Bidule ReWired into Live seems to be quite stable. At least, it is for me. From the reports I've heard, if it works, it works well -- and if it doesn't work well, you'll know immediately. :wink: So don't worry about any surprises in the middle of a gig.

Xtal is beta but is allready very good at giving the user 2 mp3 turntables how cool - this is quite significant for live users....maybe Ableton should look at getting in with the guy and licensing it for a Live plug-in

I just downloaded Audacity for Mac. Pretty good but only exports in 16 Bit.
Which version of Audacity did you download? I have the latest beta (v1.2.0pre3) for Windows XP, and it most definitely can export as AIFF in all flavours (8-bit, 16-bit, 24-bit, 32-bit). So I assume the OSX version can too ...

Second question is what exactly is plogue bidule? I've heard a lot about it but i don't know what it is.
In a nutshell, Plogue Bidule is an audio/MIDI VST host that allows you to draw the audio & MIDI connections between plugins and modules.

What exactly happens when you try to sync the NI plugins to Live? They just don't sync? They won't play at all?

What do you have the ASIO buffer size set to in the Live prefs? In certain cases, Bidule ReWire seems to like only working with other hosts operating with buffers of a size that ...

Bidule is not your auntie's sequencer... it's a modular audio environment, more akin to Reaktor or Max/MSP than it is to Cubase or Logic.

Alas, Bidule does not yet have a complex built-in sequencer that can record MIDI.

I know of a few VST plugins still in development that will offer MIDI sequencing abilities such as MIDI recording (and file exporting), but nothing that's publicly available yet.*

a) Out of curiosity, why don't you play the two loops in Live (ReWire slaved to Bidule instead) and then run the loop outputs from Live into Prosoniq Morph? (I'm guessing it's 'cause you prefer Live to be the master, but I just thought I'd check anyways). :)

I'd have to say that I love playing Green Oak Crystal into Live, though some of its patches can be pretty heavy on the CPU.

Still, with the ability to use Soundfonts as oscillators, you certainly won't lack for a full palette of sounds with Crystal. :-)

I think David means the MIDI cable software called MIDI Yoke . To my knowledge, it's the only one that works on Windows XP.

And I don't even know what he means ...
