thanks for all the helpful feedback guys... the presonus firebox looks great for what i need...also found a similar one made by Edirol...the Edirol FA-66...

i'm kind of bummed because I've been trying to find an 8 channel firewire or usb mixer to take care of it...but they all seem to only carry 2 ...
