It's supposed to be on the feature request list. I was hoping for that one as well. See here http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=125093tassock wrote:What I'm hoping for is the ability to insert clips into a session view cell by passing a file path.

Re: loading a file in a slot via m4L ?
bummer. this was one of the key features I was hoping for. The obvious idea is to completely remote control live from a controller/touchscreen. Hoping for an 1.1 release supporting this feature. cheers. Akeem

Re: NI Maschine controlling Ableton just like APC40
If the Maschine is feedbackable from M4L, I will be all over it. Control LED states and write text to the LCD screens- that's my idea of a dream controller.
Mine too, though in my dream controller the pads could themselves display text.
I posted a feature request for full LCD text control here ...

Re: NI Maschine controlling Ableton just like APC40
you probably could use 2 maschine controllers to get 8x4 triggers.
Anyway, one huge advantage of the maschine seem to be the LCDs. If you look at their videos, you'll see that in scene mode, they show a 4x4 grid

unfortunately this should be dynamic. I though about putting all songs in the arrangement and using those "clickable markers" controlled via a virtual midi detour to jump to other songs/masters. But even that not flexible enough, as I'd like to decide what to play at runtime.

you should only have to play the "master" groove clip in the arrangement view. everything else can be done in the session view. remove the stop buttons for the "groove" track on all scenes in session, if you want to trigger scenes.

Let me put it into my own words. So the plan is to encode a clips tempo variations into MIDI and route this via a virtual midi driver back to the min/max tempo of live's master track, therefore setting live's master tempo to follow the tempo changes from the unwarped clip. right ...

Is this possible?: clip as a tempo/groove master
Hey, I'm new to ableton and wonder if the following is possible in session view (found one post regarding this, but that one seems to only work in arragement view).
I have an old jazz-funk song and want to play it unwarped. In the middle of the song the tempo decreases from 100 to 80 bpm.

yeah, live.path sounds like it could be excatly what would be needed. Maybe the other objects too. Too bad there's currently not much info about those objects. The current python based API does not allow this stuff, unless anything changed in the new _framework?
