I am not tied into the development side of things, but I do wonder one thing with regard to this specific feature request:

What's so bad about the workaround (clip duplication)?

The whole Clip concept is based on references, right? (ie: a clip is simply telling Live how to play a file, not ...

That's not what I'm looking for - locators are only for the arrangement view. I'd like to have (pairs of) locators stored in the clips. I don't really see how playing from a locator in the arrangement view can help with dj'ing. Say I want to add a song, but start it's playback on the chorus right ...

I don't use Live all that much, I just play with it once in a while (doint a live set soon though). I did know you could save multiple clips, but I never thought of using them like this. So yeah this would kind of do the trick, but it's a bit of a work-around. I would still like the sections I ...

Clip sections

I'm not sure how frequently Ableton reads these suggestions, but I do hope they take this one seriously because I think it's something that would improve Live a lot. I'm actually hoping to see this in Live 6 if possible, and think it would be a big selling point, encouraging people to upgrade.

I'm ...

I don't think it would be possible to have leds that display clip names etc. Midi doesn't send out this kind of data. Maybe with usb but I don't know if you would be able to write software that interfaces with live in such a way.

I just use a (very cheap - 10 euro or something) arcade-style ...

I should say RTFM.

But, hit Ctrl-M and you will see a 'master' play button appear at the bottom of each track, assign that to a midi controller and it will play whatever clip is selected in that column. Alternatively, you can ctrl-M and assign any midi controller to play any clip by clicking on ...

Midi question (playing selected clip)

Hi,

I can send midi messages so the next scene is selected. I can also select a different channel. I can also play the currently selected scene. But how do I configure it so that a certain midi message plays the currently selected clip (if you select a track and a scene, this defines one clip, at ...

I believe they might become able duplicate your conscienceness, but it won't be you.
Think about it. What if they "download" you into a computer, while you're still alive, then you'd exist twice? Then which one are you, the computer version or the human version? The human version of course. So after ...

You can route both their outputs ("Audio To", you need to press ctrl-alt-i to see inputs and outputs if it's not visible) to a 3rd channel, and put the autofilter on that track. You'll also need to put track 3's monitor settings to "on".

Transpose using midi controller?

You know the transpose button each clip has? Isn't there a way to control this with midi? Of course, it would have to work for all clips on that track.
Maybe I'm missing something, but it doesn't seem to work for me anyway.

Thanks.

Don't worry, those spoilers weren't really vital information, and they are kind of predictable from the beginning, so I wouldn't let it keep me from seeing the movie (which was pretty good).

Yes, I'm well aware that there are plenty of dll's available that allow you to output midi... In fact I'm using one in my system.
It's something I'm making as a test, but I think it's useful (to me at least). There's a difference between writing an entire program, using com components, figuring out ...
