i have an mpd24 and it works fine in live 8, no firmware upgrade necessary (although i was already on 1.10, and that didnt work under live 7)

just got this message from Akai support:

"Good news! I was able to confirm that there is an update in the works and
will be released soon. Keep an eye on the website as things can change
quickly."

haha wicked, the power of the consumer! woo
(although maybe they're just trying to shrug off a few ...

im having the same problem with my mpd24 with a keyboard plugged into the external port. i tried deleting the files in the message above, without any luck.
the external port is testing ok in the audio/midi setup app, and i can see the input from the keyboard in the vyzex program as well.
