Hi Fastrax,
I, and a bunch of others from what I've read on various boards, have experienced some audio muddyness when mixing multiple tracks in Live. Especially in the low-mids. There is much debate about this, and it is not universally believed, but to my ears I couldn't get Live to sound like I ...

Fade
Check the fade button as well. Sometimes the clip fading out sounds like a delay when you loop it.

Cool Stores
Hi Anymouse,
The coolest off-beat stores I know of in Chicago are Midwest Buy and Sell at 6500 W Irving Park and occasionally the Music Store on Irving around Kedzie (?). Midwest Buy and Sell has reasonably priced stuff, but the best place, in my opinion, and where I get most of my gear (besides ...

Vintage Warmest
Hi Krank.
I love the Vintage Warmer and am on a budget as well. They do have a student discount if you're in school. I seem to remember someone putting one up for sale reasonably cheap on the KVRaudio website as well.
Cheers

Aggregate Device
Hi all. I found that using the aggregate used significantly more CPU than just my Tascam FW-1884 so you may want to keep an eye on your CPU usage while you switch. All the best..

Try This
Hi all. I was having some CPU probs too--and found that a significant reduction was to be had by making sure that I didn't have "Aggregate Device" selected as my Input in the Live Prefs. If this is what you have, I'd suggest selecting just your input card or whatever (in my case a Tascam 1884). I ...

Mackie HR824s
Mackie HR 824s.
I originally got a pair of used Event 20/20 bas from Guitar Center since my budget was only around 400 (I ended up dropping $460 after tax but they threw in a warranty). I liked those but they were a bit too organic sounding for my liking. I liked the bass and found them much more ...

Mac CPU stuff
On my Mac I changed the input settings preferences from "Aggregate Device" to just my Tascam FW-1884 and that gave me a large CPU savings. I also just installed CPU Accelerator 2.10--a shareware program. It seems to give some advantage but may also be the reason I just crashed. Try the first one ...

Latency and Mac "Aggregate Device" Settings Tip
Hi my Able brothers and sisters. I just got done setting up my latency in Live 5 and was ROFC because it was 119ms. I switched my input settings from Mac Aggregate Device to Tascam FW-1884 and it is now a highly respectable 5ms. I'm not using my powerbook's 1/8" ins, I just wanted to be cool with 20 ...

Return/Sends Question
Hi All,
Can anyone tell me if it should sound any different putting the same effects on each track individually or sending a bunch of tracks to a return track? I just started using return tracks and enjoy the CPU economy, but can't tell if it sounds as good as it did with effect on every channel ...

Duh--almost
Just found 'em. Of course, why wouldn't they be someplace wierd. My brain is so full trying to get this studio up and running it's a wonder I can remember how to play guitar (or tie my shoes for that matter). Luckily it's warm here in Chic. and I;ve been wearing sandles. The easiest way to figure ...

Question Please Advise..
I'm gonna just be humble here--cause even after using a mac for 20 years or so and doing all kinds of crazy system stuff, I can't for the life of me find my Live Preferences. Not in the system preferences folder if that's what you're thinking. Unless they're named something wierd. Can anyone help a ...

Sample offset clicks
I have, I think, the same problem. I've noticed much more clicks. Tried fade, tried RAM, tried enveloping volume, etc.. Help us Obi Won Kenobi, you're our only hope..

Control Surface
I use a Tascam FW 1884--which was a bit awkward in 4. It seems to be behaving very nicely in 5, tho. My first day with it. I love the 1884 and know a lot of people swear by it.
