Re: Some help choosing a MIDI Switch

er... actually it doesn't say whether it would work through the USB connection alone still, only for programming as you mentioned... i Must find the answer! (i think there was an earlier post by someone that owns the Express version).

Edit: (I am sorry about the multiple posts)

hey no prob.

but whatever you do (Amadeus is a good choice too), do not get Peak. it's a way overpriced piece of crap.
I wouldn't call Peak a piece of crap. It's worked very well for me over the years. It does just what I need. I guess I'm just used to working with it. On the other hand, I just ...

you could go the open-source (free) route too with audacity or eisenkraut (spelling?), but be ready to work your zen attitude. they sometime behave so strangely..

Re: Some help choosing a MIDI Switch

Hi

I use this all the time: http://www.roland.com/products/en/GFC-50/index.html

It rocks, it is quite small and will NEVER break! The price tag is also within your price range.

I do my MIDI routing through max so i'm not sure how easy it is to program directly on the hardware though.

cheers

Re: Best Cheapest External Soundcard?

Well, it all depends what price range you consider being cheap.. but i'd say find a used 828, they still rock (unless you need high sampling rates, but you don't need that if you DJ live IMO). Maybe 8 outs is overkill for DJing though..

How about that new NI card? I think it's specially tailored ...

but

I say sell some stuff and get a real soundcard like the RME Fireface. Amazing quality, splendid preamps and rock-solid ...

True, but that's not the point. The point is that it's weird to have a potentially set-breaking button so easily available in the GUI.
