The best thing to do is to talk to the post production house or editor that provided you with the OMFI files in the first place and ask them to provide you with files you can work with. Should be quite easy to sort on either an Avid system (using Media Mover perhaps) or FCP and you could probably av...

Thanks for the responses I think other people will find this thread useful too. I was speaking with a friend who does video editing as a profession and he suggested: 640x480 Bitrate: 800kbps MP4 Im still in research mode... what do you guys think about what he said? Like I said in my previous post,...

I am afraid you are going to have to spend some time experimenting with the clips that you are using within your Live set and balance quality against the performance of your CPU. There are just too many variables here to give anything other than general advice. It would be best if all our clips are ...

The only film that ever genuinely scared me was "The Innocents". Saw it on the telly when I was a kid and then later when I was a film student. Havn"t been able to watch it since.... there is something deeply disturbing about this film, it makes all the usual "horror" genre films look like a joke.

€1799. w :!: whats the betting that price drops before christmas  I doubt it, there was an insane thread on the Nuendo Forums a year or so back where users (a lot of them, mainly owners of commercial studios I think) were requesting that Steinberg up the price of Nuendo (which they subse...

Don"t want to hijack the thread but I have a question. Being an experimental composer who is recently become more interested in screwing with found sounds recorded with binaural mikes I have always been a bit confused over the whole vintage/true analogue synth versus digital synth/software synth thi...

those lucky enough to have access to the HD type protools have the best professional recording system currently available. those of us who have used LE or MPOWERED are/were getting hosed....... viva le LIVE! this is true, Pro Tools LE is a piece of garbage, and I think digi knows this. Basically it...

You need both Logic and Live IMHO.... completely different paradigms. Could you elaborate? I've been a Live only user since ver. 3 came out, I have no interest in purchasing other DAWs but I'm curious. I am a new user for Logic. Previously I used Nuendo on a PC. I have recently been commisioned to ...

I can wait too, but it is a shame because it will, I strongly suspect, delay the release of FCP 6, Motion(3?) and Logic 8.

Thanks for that Nobbystylus... we will be doing a shitload of encoding work but as the Mac will be based in my apartment I was hoping to get some use out of it myself for my own evil purposes. You are right though, the 8 core is just too expensive at the moment. I guess the best option is to go for ...

Mac Pro> Quad Core vs 8 Core

I am about to buy a new MacPro for my video production company (I am waiting for new announcements before any decision is made). I use Final Cut Studio as well as Ableton Live..... has anyone bought the new 8 core yet? I know it is early days but does anyone know how Live functions on 8 cores? Is th...

I would wait, but the wait might not be that long. Apple may make some kind of announcement about the release of Final Cut Pro 6 (and maybe Final Cut Extreme) at NAB on April 16th. As FCP 6 is supposedly reliant on the new core animation features in Leopard and possible updates to Quicktime and Open...
