Nightmare setting loop points since rewiring to ProTools9

I use Live as a rewire slave to ProTools, have done for several years now. Since upgrading to ProTools 9 it takes ages to set loop points in Live. This used to work fine with Protools 6.9. I made a bit of a jump straight to 9 and although everything else seems fine the loop points just won't stay ...

Re: Can Ableton Live follow a live band?

While I sort of get the idea of playing to a click track not much fun on stage, if you're using loops, those are much more fun to play to and definitely do not kill the vibe.

For one song in an old band (Wasn't using Live back then, it was somewhat post-rock type stuff), I'd start a little loop ...

Re: Can Ableton Live follow a live band?

In my experience with Live, even after the initial taps of the tap tempo button, you can still keep tapping it with whatever midi controller you have it set to and the tempo adjusts.

If he's on a midi capable kit, set the tap tempo to the high hat perhaps?

he'd have to have a separate control ...

Re: Can Ableton Live follow a live band?

Who said anything about fixed tempo between songs? Switching tempos between songs is trivially easy in Live and you can still play to a click and launch your clips the way you want.

What you claimed is that a drummer playing to a click 'kills the spirit', and I find that statement to be ...

Re: If tempo changes when using looper will pitch always change?

I seem to remember before Looper existed there was a way to set Live up to work like a JamMan. Can anyone remind me how to do that?

i guess you'd just rename the AutomapServer.app in your Applications folder...

Re: If you change tempo when using looper will it always change

all you had to do was edit your original post then you can change the post title, no need to double post.

change your warp mode out of repitch mode.

I'm talking about loops created in "Looper" not samples loaded into sessions. Is there "warp" mode in "Looper"? If so where?

Re: If you change tempo when using looper will it always change

I've just got Live working successfully with some software called "InTime". It means that Live follows the tempo of the drummer rather than the other way round. I set up Looper so that I could put some guitar loops into the live mix, but as the tempo changes the tuning of the loops changes with it ...

Re: Can Ableton Live follow a live band?

When playing live its great to all bounce off each other rhythmicly, not leave it up to the drummer to lead it all. Sometimes having the tempo shift down or up really adds to the song. Having it always to a set tempo kills the spirit.

Totally 100% disagree w/ this. Get a good drummer who can ...

Re: Can Ableton Live follow a live band?

Well I got everything working fine, tempo controlled by a kick drum - so far so good. Then I set up Looper so I can throw some guitar riffs into the mix. Latency a bit of a problem, but just about acceptable. When I then try changing tempo guitar loop tuning goes haywire!!1 sh**@£$£@£™€32tt!!!

Is ...

Re: Can Ableton Live follow a live band?

You could modify a midi foot switch into the the drummer's kick drum pedal and then assign it to tap tempo. It depends on how well Live would be able to deal with a not-four-on-the-floor kick pattern tapping the tempo. And how much the drummer trusts you. :P

You could use Bome's or vvvv so the ...

Re: Can Ableton Live follow a live band?

It's slightly OT, but have you guys who play band stuff with ableton running backing tracks got any tunes I can listen to? The "hear my stuff" section on the forum seems to be mostly DJs and one or 2 man electronic only outfits. There's some cool stuff there but would be good to check out what ...
