I use a HFS+ formatted firewire harddisk on my pc. Theres some software called macdrive, that makes windows mount macintosh disks. I use it in live as well, and can play up to 28 tracks simutaneously. FAT32 has the disadvantage, that it can only work with a limited drive capacity.

I think firewire is the better interface for harddisks, because you can have larger packet sizes and the software drivers are better. Its a little bit of a serial scsi I guess.

ive been using an external firewire drive for about half a year. It's kool but I also had lots of trouble with it, like suddely getting a write io error message during a gig. Things only got better when I upgraded to win xp.

theres no 'real' sollution to this rewire problem yet. The Cubase rendering process is too fast for live to respond. So the only way to make things work is to slow down rendering speed, which can be one by reducing audio priority or by setting up lots of unused directx/vst fx. Anyway I think ...
