2/4 meter in triplets is NOT equivalent to 6/8 or 3/4, sine they don't have a common tempo (bpm)
Two beats per minute is not the same as three beats per minute.
8 eightn notes (2/4) per measure is not the same as six eighth notes (6/8) per measure.
Duh!

Re: Time Signatures
I fed back to the YouTuber: To (half) wit
3/4 is NOT swing (triplets in duple meter, with the middle note left out). Triple meter (3/4) is 3 quarter notes to the measure. 'Duh!

Re: Time Signatures
In Spanish "No vale la pena."This guy found a clever way to get a quantized 3/4 signature out of the Move.

In other words... pure genius .. NOT!

Re: Time Signatures
Well, I just purchased a Roland P-6, which does have 16 steps and sample import..
And a lot of other things as well. Very easy to import sampls and to edit sequences,
Good Job, Roland, bad job Ableton...

me thinks there is more than one lumbering troll on here. So I will gladly take my leave. No one is arguing against time signatures, you cad.
Anymore than I'd argue that a hammer must have something against screws. Or that my refrigerator must be against toast...

Re: Time Signatures
If you have to accompany a belly dancer, begin with a dumbek.
It seems to me all your righteousness is directed towards what you feel was "false advertising" or you are preoccupied with shaming Ableton for not seeing the so called error in their ways. The thing is a grid.
What I could forsee is ...

Re: Time Signatures
Anyoune arguing against time signature functionality simply does not understand time signatures.
IM, of course, your mileage may vary.

Re: Time Signatures
You can workaround it by playing with the loop length, but of course that presents other challenges.
Like not being able to trigger clips in time ? That's not what I call a challenge, but rather an impossibility.
It's not impossible. I can switch from a 3/4 to a 5/4 in time.
Of course ...

This is impossible for all sorts of reasons, and I expect that you have never actually tried it in reality.
This is 2024, and to omit time signatures is just ridiculous (Akai Force also).
But ...

Re: Time Signatures
I just realized that the Fire controller from Fruity Loops would be perfect (especially if Note and Ableton software were upgraded with a 16 x 4 matrix option).
Update: I just started Live and discovered that the Roland P-6 was already recognized as a Midi Controller and sequenced a 12 step loop (3 ...

Re: Time Signatures
That is a bummer. Both Push and Move (and Note) should provide a "last step) function, so that the grid would reflect the time signature (e.g., there would be 6 active steps for an 8x8 matrix for 3/4 time). Ideally, of course, the matrix would have 16 steps, so one could use 12 steps (one bar) for 3 ...

Time Signatures
Does Ableton Move implement time signatures? (Note does not).
Update: Neither Move or Note have time signatures. Neither does Akai Force.
IMO, This is a really inexcusable limitation in 2024 ; a very poor design choice., since it dumbs down a great deal of music by default to duple meter. Both ...
