Installed 8.1.4 - now it can't find files / samples/ asd
I just installed 8.1.4 and now the project I'm working on has lost the files for the samples I was using. The clip is listed, along with it's name, but the waveform is not visible and the track is silent. Also, when I go to Files/open recent set, a lot of the tunes are written in grey and can't be s...

Seperate mix to headphones?
When recording vocals, I think my mic isn't up to scratch or something, as it records quite low level no matter what i do, so I have to record vocals, then just turn up the volume of the clip on the sample display. Is there a way to send a seperate mix to headphones, so that I can hear my voice boos...

Opposite to Compression? Removing triangles and cowbells.
This is probably a really dumb question, but is there something that does the opposite of compression? I have a loop with a quiet but distracting cowbell and triangle running through it. It's distracting, and ruins a brilliant sample. Is there a way to make the quiet bits of a loop even quieter? I t...

Downsampling loops within Ableton?
I create a sampled loop from an mp3, and it sounds way too clean. I've heard that switching it down to a 16 or even 8bit sample can give a lovely grimey or crusty sound to the sample....
Can I do this quickly from within Ableton or do i have to export, downsample, save and re-import?

My music - something different.

Please go and check out my various tunes I've done using Ableton. It's hip hop/rap, and I'm rhyming over my beats. Don't be put off if you don't like rap usually, though. I think it's unique enough to warrant a listen.

Re: MOUSE for ableton? or do u use TRACKBALL or GRAPHICS TABLET?
Well, I've opted for the Kensington Expertmouse. It's big and fat, which feels comfortable to use. Sometimes I feel like it lacks the accuracy of a mouse, though. I'm going to assign the top 2 buttons so that they are the record and stop buttons. This way, i can hold the thing in my hand and trigger...

Re: MOUSE for ableton? or do u use TRACKBALL or GRAPHICS TABLET?
Well, I have been getting problems with my hand aching recently after long live sessions, so I'm trying to NOT use a mouse. I've borrowed a Kensington Orbit last night to try. It seemed quite easy to use, and comfortable. Very tactile. However, the lack of a scroll wheel for web browsing was horribl...

MOUSE for ableton? or do u use TRACKBALL or GRAPHICS TABLET?
I've been using an apple Magic Mouse, and I hate it. Selling it tomorrow. Damn thing keeps making my hand cramp, running out of batteries, and accidentally scrolling through my clips. Can anyone recommend a good mouse to use with Ableton? Do any of you use a particular mouse that works well with Abl...

After Life - Dan Bull (Slapdash REMIX)
http://soundcloud.com/slapdash/after-life-dan-bull-slapdash-remix I've done a remix and put an extra verse in this tune by UK rapper Dan Bull. He's ace. Check him at myspace.com/danbull also, find me at facebook.com/slapdashrapper (if I'm honest I couldn't get the chorus in tune quite right, but enj...

Re: Matching pitch...
ah, ok. thanks. I'll go and try that. Brought the spectrum analyzer up, and I'm not really understanding what I'm looking at. There is one big fat when he holds a note, but it seems very innacurate. Hmmm.....

Re: Matching pitch...
well, i'm hoping i can do it from within Ableton with no add-ons, or at least none that will cost me. I have only a basic knowledge of musical theory. I mainly work with hip hop style loops. I've got an acapella, and he sings the chorus, just essentially repeating one line, so hopefully it will be s...

Matching pitch...
I've got 2 clips. 1 is an acapella of someone singing, the other is a piece of music. When shifting the pitch of the music, is there a quicker or more accurate way than doing it by ear?

Re: How to program analog synths - great vid for noobs
So I've been learning ableton as pretty much a noob to music production. Never really understood synth programming...Any other good resources and plug-in synths? Free ones that is..
