i think the tc native comp is the only proper sidechainable comp live users can have on osx at the moment. on pc there's the voxengo crunchessor, kjaerhus has a good comp with sidechain / key input and i think there are at least a few more than that. out of the material i've tested live5 with (i'm more of a producer but i've toyed around with the dj aspect of live too) even the complex warp mode doesn't sound so good on whole tracks IMO. you will definitely hear it on good quality monitors like the mackies and you can hear it even on normal home ...

i THINK that doesn't work in live5 anymore though. at least if you want to map a midi controller to certain range of tempo, you have to do it by assigning a controller to the master tempo and selecting the range from the controller assignment extra box (whatever it's called) in the bottom of live ...

yep the reason i was asking is that (if you didn't know this already) things will definitely sound a lot different with mono in almost any case (except if you're really making music in mono from the start) and you can lose elements too if there's bad luck - certain stereo things and tricks ...
