Re: DJ style scratch effect??
If you're on windows then check out gross beat vst..... Cheers D I do NOT recommend Gross Beat. It's the type of effect you will sit there and simply play with for 6 hours and have the time of your life. And all of Image-Lines stuff is relatively affordable so... Very fun plugin, does some c...

Re: Splitting drum midi tracks into seperate channels?
Lol, I usually copy each part manually. This is way easier now that I think about it.infiniteB wrote:Yes, it is very simple! Just copy the whole MIDI track a few times, say twice, if you gave 3 hits (kick, hat, snare)... then on each track, remove the hits other than the one you want for that track... whoala!

Re: question about saving samples
When you record audio, by default, it goes into your Project folder\Samples\Recorded as whatever you selected as your recording format. A clip is just Live's way of handling audio/midi/samples/other crap. When you import or record into Live, it uses the audio file but references it as a clip. From t...

Re: Sharing Ableton instrument presets
One thing you can do, as long as your homeboy has the exact instrument you are working with, you can save as a live pack. Create tracks with your presets used and save it, make sure you Collect all and Save, including stuff from the library (just in case). Go into the File Manager, under Project, th...

Re: How to copy midi data only and not automation?
It's a pain depending on how many automated parameters you have per clip, but it can be done. See the pic below to reference. You need to send each automated parameter into its own automation lane (the + in the bottom right of the track). Depending how many automated parameters you have, it could ta...

Re: Logic User Becomes an Ableton User... a gets confused
Yeah you need to get used to how the clips work with selecting. When expanded so you can see the waves, clicking the solid bar above the clip selects the whole thing, while clicking in the wave will just place the cursor or allow you to drag and select a range. After selecting a range, you can then ...

Re: win 7 won't authorize live
Unless you have UAC turned off in Win7, you need to make sure youre running Live as administrator.
Right-click, Run as Administrator. You need to do this with a lot of apps since Vista even if your account is an Admin account, it still doesn't run everything at highest privs by default.

Re: Default Packages folder in Live.app
As far as I know, DefaultPackages are only used at first launch or probably if you run the library verification,, if errors need to be repaired. I would never say DELETE is OK, but it's probably safe to move to another disk and if you need them, you can just pop them back over.

Re: How do you save a selected part of a clip as a new clip?
Yeah, I try not to consolidate anything when I'm chopping. I just basically get my selection and If I'm in arrangement, I just drag to a empty spot or track and in session, I just drag the clip to another slot somewhere and chop more from there. A lot of times I'm working with a drum rack so I just ...

Re: Cut - Paste - Duplicate in Volume mode - affecting audio
Well if youre going for an envelope, just create an envelope lane and select only what's in the lane. Youll be able to tell if you did it wrong because it will be split into 2 sections.

Giving dudes boners is way more profitable than helping sick people. Until you get fined billions. Then only slightly less profitable.

Re: audio track changing to midi track - problem
I used to be able to drag audio onto a midi track and it would change to an audio track. Midi to audio did NOTHING. Now it stopped working entirely. I'm actually kind of glad I can't mix up tracks now. I wish it would create a new track either way instead of not doing anything though.

Re: Save as options....
I think they use the non-backwards compatibility as an undocumented marketing technique. There is no reason it's not possible. I was using 5 up until 8 and I had people using 6 & 7 and I had to have them track everything before we could share and it was a pain in the ass. Now I have 8 and I have...
