OK, got it.

Yes, that worked fine.

Where are the tutorials?...

Hi there,
Just installed the most recent beta (Live & Max).
I assume the tutorials are still supposed to be in Max5/Examples/M4L.Examples/Devices, are they?
But in there, for instance when I open the folder "BeatGenerator.tutorial Project" (same with the others), I see internal folders (Max Devices ...

Re: max patch to generate control data

From a M4L device in a MIDI track (for instance Track 1), you can output CC data via a [ctlout] or a [midiout]. Now, you can use these CC in another MIDI or MIDI Instrument track by choosing the (for instance Track 1) as midi input.
Now, you cannot get this midi data in the mapping part of Ableton ...

Re: get started with the api (live.path / live.object, etc)

In Max Help, if you search for "live object model", you don't find the right page, but you'll find the [live.object] ref page. From this page, then, there is a link to the "Live Object Model" reference page.

[rsu] coll, qlist: disconcerting behavior

When you open a [coll] or [qlist] by double-clicking on it in a Live device, a window is on top. But the shortcut Command-W closes the Live Set, not the coll/qlist window. Once you know it, you click on the window close button, but before that, it may look like there is a problem if one doesn't read ...

Re: get started with the api (live.path / live.object, etc)

Just reading this article again, and I think there might be a few things that have been updated since this preview. Most of the time, "set" should be now "live_set", I guess.

get started with the api (live.path / live.object, etc)

Hi there,
Just want to mention that to get started with the api objects, I found Andrew Benson's story (http://www.cycling74.com/story/2009/7/14/1835/98517) to be the most accessible place. Examples are more basic than, for instance, the LiveAPI in M4L.Examples.
Best,

Re: [c74] Possible to orphan Max patchers from Live?

Can't try right now, but opening in Max a MfL device is not supported. I guess the recommended way is to select all, copy, then in max create a new patcher, paste.

By the way, I hope there is a new post from Ableton / Cycling when a new version is available (the post here dates from Sept 1st).
Thanks,

Record Midi Controllers - clip - sequence

Hi there,
I really feel like a Live newbie asking that, but here we go:
-is it possible to record a midi controller in a clip? (for instance, a program change, but without having any note)
-same question with midi controls automation in the sequencer. With Max for Live, we can do for instance ...

Re: pfft~ not working?

What's your problem exactly? Do you have a specific example?
As far as I tested, pfft~ has worked just fine.
Do you have a file problem? The way I work usually is that I keep my pfft~ subpatchers either stored at the same place as the main patcher, or in my Max search path.

Re: maxforlive devices format/type conversion

It's surely recommended to use send/receive rather than send~/receive~ (the first thing that comes to mind about send~/receive~ is latency: I'm not sure how it would be handled.
The "audio XOR midi" input for a device is a Live limitation, so we have to use something like send/receive.
Sure, Midi ...

Infinite number of threads on the subject on the Max forum, but the bottomline is most of the time, ignore it.
