I ran into this problem too ( after I bought the unit, unfortunately... should have done more planning!)
A UC33e was my next purchase, and I love it. The build quality certainly doesn't meet Akai's, but the small size and "3-band EQ friendliness" is great. Recommended.
Perhaps a UC33e / Launchpad ...

APC40: Remapping cue level to Master Tempo
Can anybody help a semi-retarded individual figure out why this isn't working? I try to map it like I'd map anything else: Right-click on Master Tempo --> Click Edit MIDI Map --> twist the Cue Level knob.... but no dice.
I'd appreciate any help, as tempo changes are pretty much the only time I need ...
