Lets look in our crystall ball 8O :) There r now already many patches with same, overlapping functionality. The database is like maxobjects.com not really "browsable" anymore, it will get much bigger. U search a device, sort by # of downloads/rating, test it, switch to another maybe if not satisfied ...

Yep. You are exactly right. You can rate the devices and browse/search by highest rating, but it's not that useful. People don't rate devices nearly enough. Even devices that have 10 comments of "wow this is great" may not have a single rating.

not sure what to do about that.

Tune & Vol of the osc is modulated by pitchtrack and transient in the osc control window. For live use i dont like this too much, as zebrify peaks with ...

we need patch rating system on maxforlive, number of downloads is not very valuable if the developer has done good work, also there are already many patches with same, similar, overlapping funtionality.

Also if externals are available for Win/OS X, some dont mention this.

There some other interesting posts optimizing tracking and latency with externals and FFT window size. As im not on mac i first have to write a win C or Java External similar to fiddle. Then i can go on ...

I was doing something similar. Same problems. To bridge Audio track with MIDI track you can use send / receive objects. I was successful in building an Audio to MIDI converter using an external MSP patch named sigmund.
However I'm not satisfied with tracking and latency. I really think MSP is slow ...

Im thinking about a plugin converting realtime audio (e.g. from a mic) to realtime midi data. Im beginner and until now not really impressed by m4l realtime performance, some patches i tested dont run very smoothly and i dont see many realtime audio fx with m4l at all. Seems its not the best tool ...

To have the ability to open more than one project at the same time as mentioned previously is a must.

The important thing is to be able to drop part of one project into another by dropping from window to window. This would help to arrange two seperate songs / musical passages / or more / comped ...

afaik the multicore support with Win 7 is superiour to XP as RAM managment, so i doubt ur result a little bit besides u made them on a single core CPU. But this i really hard to complare for private users. More and more consumer PC/Notebook are delivered with 64 bit, so driver will get ...

would probably mean they have to make a new device as there r piano roll view and device view on the bottom. And for new devices there is m4l with as said tons of drum machines/step sequencer, so i doubt they will even think about this
